Namaste

Its nice to see you on the list. Well, it is wrong to bring discussion of some

other list on this list. But then i remember interacting with Hari on other

list regarding your Ishta-Devta and it seems like that confusion of your

Ishta-Devta brought you here on this list.

Welcome to the list !!

Let me refresh the topic of your ishta-devta and the confusion caused there in.

My reply to your ishta-devta

In your Chart your Ak(Atmakaraka - planet with the highest Degree ) is Sun. Sun

is in 11 th house in Navamsa. 12 th from Sun is Capricon sign. Capricon has

Jupiter and Venus, Jupiter being higher in Degree and aspected by Mars from the

7 th. Mars gets exalation in Capricon and hence becomes the strongest by

aspect.

As per rule -

"Look at the 12th house from this sign(Ak in Navamsa - i.e. Karakamsa )and look

for planet(s) disposited in it. A single planet will denote the Ishta Devata as

represented by the planet. If there are more planets in the 12th - then choose

the strongest by way of degrees - the one who has won over others. All the

planets aspecting the 12th will give the result. But again, the one who will

rule over the rest of the planets, will be the strongest, will represent

Ishta-Devta ".

Now, considering the above :- The planet which wins is Mars aspecting 12 th from

Karakamsa Sun and is exalted in Capricon.

The deities for the nine grahas are:

Surya - ShivaChandra - GauriMangal - Skanda/Kartikeya/MurugaBudh

- VishnuBrihaspati - Samba Shiva (Guru Rupa)Sukra - LakshmiSani -

NarayanaRahu - DurgaKetu - Ganesh

Mars represents Skanda/Kartikeya/Muruga. It can also be Lord Hanuman ( Senior

members correct me if i am wrong ) as Mars rules Tuesday and its day of

Hanumanji.

Hence, in my humble Opinion : You wrote - "I believe in Lord Rama and hanumana-

recite hanuman chalisa and sundarkand religiously- " what you are doing is

absolutely correct. And Lord Hanuman will be your Ishta-Devta.

Reply of Hari

In Rambha's Case you are right in most of the points ... but however, her Ista

does not become Hanuman for the following reasons. 1. 12th from karakamsa has

jupiter and venus. Jupiter get;s more degrees and hence he is the significator

of ista. Jupiter signifies Samba Shiva and hence he is the ista.2. Mars aspects

12th from karakamsa by graha drishti and NOT by rasi drishti. Am sure you know

the difference. In anycase the rules are very clear. When 12th from karakamsa

has more planets, the planet that has gained more degrees is the ista. and in

this case, aspects are not seen

My reply

In her chart Jupiter is debilitated though ahead in degrees. Still should

Jupiter be given the consideration or should it be the lord of the house i.e.

Saturn. Also, Venus is in friendly sign. Hence he also becomes the contender

for denoting the ishta.

Reply of Hari

Take your thinking a bit further. What if there was mars posted with jupiter who

is debilitated? then her ista would have been hanuman/Narasimha/Skanda. (any one

of them). Thus in the absence of a more powerful planet with jupiter, jupiter

would denote the ista.

My Query

Now, taking the above explanation, in rambha's case, Jupiter is in Debiliation -

Venus is in friends sign of Saturn - Venus thus becomes Stronger/Powerful (isn't

it) in context to Jupiter. Hence, ishta should be denoted by Venus rather than

Jupiter. With context to your above explantion can you throw light on how does

Jupiter becomes determinent for Ishta-Devta?

Till this point we had discussed regarding your Ishta-Devta. I have attached

your file in .jhd format for the members to comment on the above.

Now, i would look towards and request Senior Members/ Guru's to kindly throw

light on the above and clarify the confusion. I would also like if Hari

comments.

Om sri hanumate namah,

Respected sri Sanjay Rath ji and all the other erudite members,

Namaste,

I'm very very new to Jyotish and I thank you for accepting my request for membership.

As a beginner - have just begun to read the archives - though persuing this

science for the last 2 years _ i feel very lost and always feel that there is

so much more to learn - everyday a new mystery unfolds. Thae ways of nature are

remarkable.

Looking forward to your blessings in the pursuit of this path.I'm indeed

honoured. As I had posted my details ( birth chart) on another astrology group

where there are many knpwledgable members too. However a lot of speculation

with regard ro my ishta. I worship bhagwan Ram- keep ekadashi fast and also

hanumanji- recite hanuman chalisa and try and recite sundarkand daily and go to

the hanuman temple daily.Different opinions on my ishta have had me truly

perplexed- evryone is so helpful but divergent opinions do sow this seed in

one's mind if one is doing the right thing.

My dob. is 11th december, Imphal- manipur,3.33 pm. presently running Rahu dasa

rahu/ rahu/ sat.Rahu and Ketu intrigue me. So many different explanations are

given. My husband will start his ketu dasa soon.

I know i sound extremely silly - but if both the partners are running rahu/ ketu

dasa simultaneously- Does it affect the married life? will he get spiritually

inclined or get a promotion that signifies a change of place as 9th house

signifies long journeis?his ketu is sitting in the 9th house in Aries in Yuve

awastha.in the first paad of bharani.his dob. is 10th dec. 1957, 00.20 am at

Meerut.. leo acs.26/35/9.in purva pha., has mangal, guru and rahu in libra , Sat

( com) and Sun AL. in the 4th house of scorpio. Its said that if separative

planets like sun and sat. aspect the 10th- means a slow rise w.r.t. to career

but he is a very senior person in a very reputed corporation? Though his

relations with his father are dtrained without doubt without any outward

animosity. His lvenus is in 6th- in capricorn and moon in gemini in the 11th.His

vision in the left eye is impaired- is it due to the aspect of sat. on his lagna

from the 4th or the sorrpio navamasa? The 12th house signifies the left eye but

here a significant part of the left side of skull was also involved. Also please

guide me what does the parivartan yoga between jupiter in the 12th and exalted

venus in the 5th in navamasa signify?Moon is exalted here in the 6th?I'm just

trying to put it all together because i feel that starting with the horoscopes

of people one knows very well is the best way to start- one knows them so much

better and one can always try to decipher their past trials and tribulations by

loking at the dashas etc. I don't want to use any technical words- Its like one

one member very aptly put it- trying to fly even before I can crawl. I have

along way to go. so much reading to do.

Thanks and namaste once again.
