SENTENCES OF THE SRIMAD BHAGAVATAM

Prabhupada)

 

* And there is the history of Vitrasura. Anyone who

makes a gift of this great work (Srimad Bhagavatam) on

a FULL MOON day attains to the highest perfection of

life by returning to Godhead. /// S.B. 1.1.1

 

* The Sun is the cause of all illumination: fire,

electricity, the rays of the Moon,etc. All luminaries

in the sky are creations of the Sun, the Sun is the

creation of the Brahmajyoti, and the Brahmajyoti is

the effulgence of the Lord. Thus the ultimate cause of

creation is the Lord./// S.B. 2.5.11

 

* The rivers and the seas, being the controlling

deities of the two, keep the intestines and the

arteries in healthy order./// S.B.2.10.29

 

* The mind is the Moon, the reservoir of all

changes./// S.B. 2.1.34

 

* The heart of every living entity is the seat of the

supersoul, Paramatma, a plenary expansion of the

Supreme Personality of Godhead. Without His presence

the living entity cannot get into the working energy

according to his past deeds (...) B.G. (9.10) When,

therefore, the Supersoul is situated int he heart of

the conditioned soul, the requisite mind is

manifiested in the conditioned soul, and he become

conscious of his occupation as one is conscious of his

duty after waking up from slumber. There fore the

material mind of the living entity develops when the

Supersoul sits on his heart, after which the mind the

controlling deity (Moon), and then the activities of

the mind (namely thinking, feeling and willing) all

take place. The activities of the mind cannot begin

without the manifestation of the heart, and the heart

becomes manifested when the Lord wants to see the

activities of the material creation. /// S.B. 2.10.30

 

* Iti is learned from the revealed scriptures that

the Moon was born from the Milk Ocean. /// S.B. 3.2.8

 

* It is said that six months of this planet earth

equal one day of the higher planets. /// S.B. 3.7.33

One vedha 8.135 second

One lava 8.45 second

One mimesa 8.15 second

One ksana 8.5 second

One kastha 8 second

One laghu 2 minutes

One danda 30 minutes

One prahara 3 hours

One day 2 hours

One night 12 hours

One puksa 15 days

 

Two paksas comprise one month, and twelve months

comprise one calendar year, or one full orbit of the

Sun.

* My dear boy (Rudra) I have already selected the

following places for your residence: the heart, the

senses, the air of life, the sky, the air, the fire,

the water, the earth, the Sun, the Moon and austerity.

* Ominous planets such as MARS and SATURN shone

brighter and surpassed the auspicious ones such as

MERCURY, JUPITER and VENUS, as well as a number of

Lunar mansions. Taking seemingly retrograde courses,

the planets came in conflict with one another.

 

On the birth of the two DEMONS there were many natural

disturbances, all very fearful and wonderful, in the

heavenly planets the earthy planets and in between

them.

 

There are earthquakes long the mountains on the earth,

and it appeared that there was fire everywhere. Many

inauspicious planets like Saturno appeared, among with

comets, meteors and thunderbolts

 

When natural disturbances occur on a planet, one

should understand that a demon must have taken birth

there. In the present age the number of demoniac

people is increasing. Therefore natural disturbances

are also increasing. Therefore natural disturbances

are also increasing. There is no doubt about this, as

we can undertand from the statements of the

Bhagavatam.
