SJVC- USA East Coast conference

Dear Gurus and members,

 

This past weekend I had the extreme privilege to attend the 3 day SJVC USA East

in Princeton, NJ with classes given by our esteemed Gurus Sanjay Rath, Brendan

Feeley and Narasimha Rao. For me it was a very moving experience to be able to

finally meet my Jyotish Guru ( Sanjay Guru-ji) in person and several of my

fellow students. Members attending included Narayan, Sanjay Prabhakaran, Sri

Ram, Sudarshan, Suresh, Ashwin, Jagmeet and also well-known astrologer/author

Ronnie Dryer. (Hope I'm not leaving anyone out.) Also attending were also

many students of Brendan-ji and who traveled from the Washington DC area and

also a few students of Ronnie Dreyer from New York City may soon join our list.

 

The first day of our conference was about the Narayana dasa presented by Gurus

Sanjay-ji and Narasimha-ji. Narasimha-ji worked a miracle by teaching many

beginner students how to calculate their own Narayan dasas in a few short

hours. Sanjay Guru-ji then went on to teach us how to being to interpret the

Narayan dasa using various example charts.

 

The second day's classes where on the Vimshottari dasa and other Udu dasas

presented by Sanjay Guruji based on extracts of his upcoming book of the same

subject. He astounded us by explaining the reasoning behind why each mahadasa

period gets it's particular number of years. To my knowledge this was never

explained in any book. He also taught about several other special condition Udu

dasas that can be used with respect to special themes.

 

The final day included fascinating lectures on Medical Astrology presented by

Sanjay Guruji in the morning and Brendan Guruji in the afternoon. Sanjay

Guruji taught us how to begin to recognize various bodily disease/defects and

in horoscopes based on the kalapurusha and the 8H/lord and also various

sufferings and afflictions due to 6H/lord and the badhak. In the afternoon,

Brendan Guruji taught us about Ayurveda and word Ayur-jyotish was coined to

mean how we can use ayurveda can be used to understand disease states and

remedies in horoscopes.

 

It was an unforgettable conference that will hopefully be the first of many in

the U.S. We have taken steps to set up a New York/ New Jersey area chapter of

SJVC that will meet on a regular basis to further our study of jyotish. Our

Gurus and many of the other students are soon on their way to California for

the West Coast conference that begins Thursday, August 22nd.
