Guest guest
Dear Sanjay, I believe seasons are classified into four different types in English. This is likely due to the temperate climate experienced in the higher lattitudes (England) where there are no Monsoons or the Rainy season as in the tropics. Spring starts about March 20 Summer starts about June 21 Fall/Autumn starts about September 22, and Winter starts about December 22. These are also associated with the elements - Air, Fire, Water and Earth respectively. The six Ritu/season classification as per the the Indian system are each of 2 month durations Vasanta (Spring) starts March 20 to May 19 - ruled by Venus Greeshma (Summer) starts May 20 to July 19 - as you can see summer starts earlier especially if you live closer to the equator. Ruled by Mars. Varsha (Monsoon/Rainy season) start July 20 to September 19. Ruled by Moon. Sarad (Fall/Autumn) start September 20 to November 19. Ruled by Mercury. Hemanta (End of Autumn/Beginning of Winter, season of dew) start November 20 to January 19. Ruled by Jupiter. Shishira (Winter proper) starts January 20 to March 19. Ruled by Saturn. This is my understanding. Best wishes. Ashwin.
Guest guest
Vyam Vyaasadevaaya Namah Dear List, These seasons can be timed using the Vishnu Chakra (Tropical Zodiac), begining with Aries in the spring, and proceeding at 2 signs at a time. This is also the method of finding the season of birth in Nasta Jatakam.
