Astrology could mean Western and Chinese astrology too. By Jyotish we mean Vedic/Indian system of Astrology. Even here there are many branches but all are called as Jyotish. 2. You may get Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, jataka Parijaat, Phaldeepika and How to Judge a Horoscope by B.V.Raman. Sanjay Rath's Crux of Astrology is also very good for advanced astrologers. 3. You will find the qualifications of an astrologer mentioned in all standard texts. 4. Normally, when we talk about Jyotish Predictions based on Horoscope is indicated.Though all other systems are based on this science. 5. Jyotish is said to be a Vedanga and the bassis is multidimentional and not restricted to the Tridoshas.Planetary Positions at the time of birth and current positions, Nature of Planets(Satva,Raja, Tama)their prakriti(Kapha,Vata,Pitta) and many other factors form the bassis of this science. 6. As you are well versed in Ayurveda, the question appears superfluous.Predictive sciences are never finite. There always the possibility of error on the part of one who practices it. You will agree that even amongst aurveda practitioners different diagnosis is made for the same patient by different practitioners. 7. Astrology recgnises the effects of past karma as the horoscope that you get. This implies that the future also depends on your Karma. If used as a guide,it helps one avoid pitfalls and lessen impact of bad effects and increases the good effects of the yogas by enabling one to take right decisions at the right time.As a matter of fact being an Aurvedacharya you should understand the logic easily. Why does a Vaidya give medicine for Cold? Even if not treated it will go away afgter about a week. All the answers to your questions you will find in the astrological texts mentioned above. Please read them and if there any query feel free to ask.
