Guest guest
Dear Vinod and List, The Pradosha puja is a very specific and elaborate puja of Lord Shiva, as written in the Skanda Purana. It is performed on the evening of the trayodashi and is then followed by the Chaturdashi Shiva vratas. Pradosha is specifically observed to relieve one from abject poverty and grave danger. It is extremely beneficial for those who are filled with sorrow, grief and fear. Pradosha has the fantastic capacity to protect one from the gravest of danger. Even those who are filled with bad thoughts, are evil, mean and cheats are protected from danger, if they perform the Pradosha. Pradosha Shiva puja protects one from enemies, snakes, dangers from mountains, drowning in oceans, affliction from diseases and imprisonment. It rescues one from death-like poverty and debts which are as high as mountains. Observing Pradosha regularly gives one wealth, prosperity, food, children, spouse, luck and luxuries and riches beyond imagination. Those who do not worship Shiva on Pradosha, are born poor birth after birth. (Does it have something to do with the fact that trayodashi is ruled by Jupiter, the Dhana Karaka?) Pradosha can be performed on both pashas. Fast on trayodashi and then three dandas (I don't know how to translate this) prior to sunset, don white clothes after bathing. After performing sandhya and japa, start the Pradosha Shiva puja. The puja is described in great detail, so unless anyone is interested, I am not writing it down here. It begins with the construction of a mandala, upon which a lotus has to be drawn with five colours (ashtadala?), agaman, peetha devata agaman, atma shuddhi, bhuta shuddhi, pranayama with sabindu beeja mantra, matrika nyasa, matrika dhyana, matrika punardhyana, parama Shiva dhyana, Guru namaskar on the left and Ganapati namaskar on the right. This is followed by a huge description of an elaborate Shiva puja.
