Guest guest
Dear Sir, Shasta is also known as Hariharaputra or Ayyappan and is a highly venerated Diety. He was produced through the union of Lord Mahavishnu's Mohini avatar and Lord Siva. There is a temple for Him in Sabarimalai. Shasta means 'one who controls and rules over the whole world'. He is the protector of Dharma. I hope this is helpful. , "triptika" <triptika@h...> wrote: > respected Gurus and Sanskrit Scholars, > > i am reposting this message, kindly help. > > thanks and regardfs, > triptika > - > triptika > > Tuesday, January 20, 2004 7:23 PM > WHO IS 'SHASTA' ? > > > dear list, > > can somebody tell me which deity is called 'SHASTA'. we find this reference in Phaldeepika. shloka 16 and17 of chapter 2 refer that one of the Shani's residence is Shasta's temple and also refer Moon as Shasta's worshiper. > > > i hope some one can explain it. > > thanks and regards, > triptika
