Dear Kaimal, Namaskar.

I'm writing this post at the request of others, for the further understanding of

3rd and 6th from AL.

Unless the benefics are strong, the person will delay their renunciation, and

that too the planets must be exalted.

See the houses from Arudha Lagna will show how you react to this world, whilst

the houses from Lagna will show what you receive from this world. Example: if

you have planets in the 6th house from Lagna, those types of enemies will

trouble you, but whether you retaliate or not is seen from the 3rd and 6th

houses from Arudha Lagna.

Benefics in the 3rd and 6th houses from Arudha Lagna will indicate a path of

peace or renunciation. And that too when those planets are strong. If weak then

one will easily succumb to the path of the malefics, namely that of getting the

material fruits of this world.

See there are two types of worship in this world. Right Hand (3rd house) ruled

by Brhaspati and Left Hand (11th house) ruled by Sukracharya. The left handed

worship will always amount to fruits from this world, no matter what you offer.

Whilst the right handed worship must be good karma (benefics) to move towards

spirituality, whilst bad karma (malefics) will obstruct ones spirituality, but

can give material fruits as they will obstruct the work of Brhaspati and allow

Shukracharya to have his way.

Why both 3rd and 6th houses? The 3rd and 6th houses in the natural zodiac are

Gemini and Virgo respectively. The opposite signs to these are Sagittarius

(9th) and Pisces (12th) respectively, which show the Guru and the Mahaåñis

intervening in our lives, and their intention towards us. That’s why the 3rd

house is said to indicate Guru-Upadesa, as it’s the 7th from the 9th house.

The Guru’s requirement is Sattva Guna – i.e. be pure. If you offer Tamas (s)he

will not be inclined to help you and will leave. Hence a main requirement for

choosing students is that they should preferably not have malefics in the 9th

house from Lagna, and that too the Tamas Guna Grahas; Rahu, Saturn or Mars, off

which Saturn is the worst and can cause separation between the Guru-Sishya.

Off-course there are other riders as well – A9, Guru, etc.

Now if one does happen to have benefics in 3rd/6th from AL, they will give

spirituality if they are strong, as this makes the good karma produced very

auspicious and taken easily by the Guru. But if the benefics are weak, then the

Guru’s will not take them easily, and the spirituality is delayed in proportion

to the good karma produced.

By nature benefics in 3rd/6th from AL will make the person a good-hearted individual without doubt.

Among the benefics those who are Rajasic will decrease ones ties to Samsara,

these are Venus and Mercury. The stronger they are, the more severed the bond

to Samsara will be. Any afflictions or weaknesses (in both rasi and navamsa)

will delay the same and hence delay ones spirituality from arising.

Now if you think abit more in these lines, you will find that the planets in 3rd

and 6th from AL will show our attitude towards spirituality, and which

ideals/activities are taking us away from the spiritual path.

Malefics in 3rd/6th from AL can cause spirituality if they are weak.

Hope this helps

Best wishes,

Dear Visti,

Just a small doubt; when you state that the apoklima houses from AL are

governed by a lot of tamas guna, I understand that this is not a general

statement as it depends on where the AL is. For example, if the AL is in a dual

sign, then the apoklimas will be all tamas guna else if the AL is in a fixed

signs, then the apoklimas will be all rajasic and if the AL is in a movable

sign, only the apoklimas are all satvic!

Please correct my understanding, if wrong.

Hope you are having a great time at Puri. Saw your photos; they look good; I

especially liked the photo of you going over some notes and Sanjay sitting in

padmasana. Convey my regards to Sanjay and Sarbani.

regards

Hari
