Guest guest
Jaya Jagannatha Dear Lakshmi, Sorry, it was a brain switch. Actually tritiya begins on Wednesday when Moon is going into its deepest exaltation. This is just over an hour after sunset for where we are. As for engaging in studies, Rohini nakshatra is not the nakshatra recommended for studies but is good for meditation as it is in swargaloka and Brahma lords this nakshatra. Because the third thithi begins on a Wednesday, the yoga is considered to be destructive (dagha yoga -burnt). To further clarify if this is really going to be as rewarding as promised, we'll need to calculate which planet gets the ahuti after the vrata for the day by performing yagna. The order of the planets for getting the ahuti are the following: Sun, Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Rahu, Ketu The Moon in Rohini is 4th away from the Sun in Aswini hence, take 4 and divide by 3 = R1 Therefore, Sun gets the ahuti. Sun is Krura (malefic) and indicates a destruction of the auspicious effects. We can further determine the abode of the yagna thus: The tithi is 3 (3rd day) The weekday is Thursday (yagna day) = 5 + 3 = 8/4= 2 2 is the Abode of the Pataal Loka!! It seems that from this, one should take a dip in the Holy Ganga to cool down the Dagha effects and prayers to Vishnu the sustainer who rules both valorous Martian days. On the 3rd, Vaisnavi stands in the SE. Thanks for your inputs on Tirupati.............my barefoot walk from Sri Varaha Temple with Ashwin and Freedom and how I made it to Lord Venkateswara's Temple by a hair's breath and the delight into the sanctum sanctorium at Padmavati Temple when the Temple was closed to the public..... What do you think is the meaning of Lord Venkateswara's purusha (chest/bust)? It is meant for you to look after. My brother Bhima had a similar experience whereby the images of Krishna and Radha kept on appearing in a dream to a lady in England that they (Krishna and Radha) wanted to return to India as they needed to look after a temple for someone else. My brother now has the murtis at his temple. Some things are just meant to be. love, Swee swee www.brihaspati.net B Lakshmi Ramesh [b_lakshmi_ramesh] 20 April 2004 16:03 varahamihira Re: |Sri Varaha| RE: [sJC: Achyuta Gurukul] 22nd april : akshaya tritiya Om Gurave Namah Namaste Swee, Akshaya Triteeya does fall on 22nd of this month, that too on a Thursday! That's sure a great day to engage in study and meditation! Akshaya Triteeya is also the day when the temple doors of Badrinath reopen after the winter break, and the people can have a glimpse of the Yogeswara. That day is also the only day in an year, when the sandalwood paste covering Lord Varaha Narasimha at Simhachalam is removed so that one can see the Idol in all its glory (Here Nrisimha is supposed to be Ugra Narasimha, so he is covered in sandalwood all the time and the idol normally looks like a Shivalingam). In short, I think Akshaya Triteeya is a day of revelations and enlightenment. By the way, why are the two tithis governed by Mars, namely Triteeya and Ekadasi, are invariably associated with Lord Vishnu?
