In this chart Mercury and Mars take these positions. My question: Does Mercury's rasi drsti onto Sun, the sixth lord, show the defeat of his enemies? Is this the manner in which one should read the chart? That the first lord indicates the person themselves and the sixth lord rule their opponents? Marakas influencing either of these planets should show their defeat? When Ali won a gold medal at the olympics in 1960 he was running antar of Mercury. When Ali regained heavyweight title in October 1974 against tough opposition, again it was Mercury antar. Is this the correct approach? Corrections and advice would be appreciated. The D6 is used to see ones overcoming of sharipu or sins, and it would not be right to say that Mr. Ali was fighitng sin when he was fighting in the ring. That would also mean that each of his competitors were his enemies. But you are right that the 7th lord is the destroyer of the enemy, as it is maraka to the 6th house. A more acurate approach would be to analyze the d-10 and see Mercury there. Mercury is debilitated ensuring great wealth in career. Sun is 10th lord and debilitated again promising great wealth. Mars the lagna lord is also debilitated promising the same. Note that the planets being debilitated shows that the method using to gain wealth was one of defaming, dethrowning or scaring other beings, which basically is what a boxer does to his opponent, and earns from. To make sure I'm understanding correctly--I've always understood that the 11th house is the house of revolving income (routine income that comes from one's profession, status, actions). The 11th is the 2d from the 10th so it's the wealth of the 10th. Is this the idea? This is what the 11th house is – it’s the hopes and desires that we can look forward to fulfilling. So since the 11th house is the 2nd from the 10th house, these hopes and desires sustain our career and karma yoga. Problem is that once we achieve our desires we make new ones, and then we are only getting ready for our rebirth, and can risk changing/ending our karma yoga too early. So when Sri Krishna asks us to work without expectations, he was actually highlighting this aspect of Jyotish.
