Guest guest
From Sankarraman Dear friends, Recently, we had a discussion on the subject of death and after life. I saw a site containing a thought provoking conversation between J.Krishnamurthy and Sidney Field, the subject cent red around the death of John Filed, the brother of Sidney. The bereaved individual is not able to accept the idea of the death of his brother, and is asking heated questions on what happens to the being of the dead man to whom he was attached deeply. Krishnamurthy lays bare the issue of death and continuity giving no answer, yes or no, to this profound question. But he brings into clear relief, that there existed no person answering to the dead, except the investment made of the living in the dead in the form of images had about the person whom they mistook to have loved. Krihsnamurthy, while talking about reincarnation, does not treat it as an individual phenomenon, but traces it to the collective stream of human sorrow that goes on. Krishnamurthy's position is that the individual is not different from the stream, though from the peripheral point of view there are certain things distinguishing one individual from the other- talents, cultural conditioning etc. Krishnamurthy says that this understanding takes the individual to something beyond the stream, which he calls compassion; and the Bodhisattva is the essence of compassion. Krishnamurthy has no answers to the questions relating to the particular contents of the dead, as according to him all contents are unreal; true love being eternal does not admit of individual, psychological memories. The following is the site.
