Guest guest Posted December 27, 2000 Report Share Posted December 27, 2000 Dear JEff, one of the reasons you may have different softwares with differnet GL and HL is that the calculation of sunrise may be different by a few minutes. Is sunrise calculated when the Sun is on the horizon, or when it is viewed on the horizon? Barometric pressure, and elevation have a noticible influence on visible sunrise as well. Then some may calculate it based on the center of the Sun, and others on the edge of the SUn. THough it should certainly be calculated on the center of the Sun. Then there is two methods for calculating Hora Lagna, the method in Brihat Parashara HOra Sastra gives excellent results, the method illustrated by some commentators of Jaimini Sutras I don't find as accurate. By the way: Ghatika Lagna changes every 24 minutes, every Ghati. Guest guest Posted January 3, 2001 Report Share Posted January 3, 2001 Dear M.Tipathy, unfortuneately there is not a lot I can tell you about the results of the lords of upagrahas, excpet for Gulika, Gulika's lord or navamsa lord, is problematical for health and also gains extra strength to inflict death. The others I have not much experience with. It is unfortuneate that we don't have much classical information on how to use the upagrahas except for Gulika.
