EDITORIALJune 4, 2002 VNN7364 India Has Good PlanetsBY DHARMAPADA

DASEDITORIAL, Jun 4 (VNN) — Pakisthan came into existence at practically the

same time as India, but since Pakisthan's capital is so much further West, the

previous sign was rising- and it was Aries! Aries is a fiery, challenging,

war-like sign. It is represented by two rams butting heads against each other,

and Aries is a movable sign, so it is inherent in the Aries nature to project

its aggression in the first place. In Pakisthan's particular chart, the

ascendent lord, Mars, sits in the third, a house associated with krura,

cruelty. Mars does so in an excitable, masculine sign, Gemini. We can hardly

imagine a more aggressive placement- It accounts for Pakisthan's misguided,

violent and fanatic stance towards its neighbor, India. Yes, it is Pakisthan's

attitude specifically towards its neighbor which is indicated by this

third-house placement because the third is also the house of neighbors. The

reader will recall that Pakisthan has initiated three wars against its

neighbor. The dharmic Jupiter may aspect the ascendent and the ascendent lord,

but Jupiter's aspect is not enough to overcome the natural anger of the rising

sign and its lord- At least, it is not enough when Saturn and the Sun occupy a

quadrant, contributing harshness and arrogance, and when a weak moon,

indicating the kind of weak emotions which lead to fanaticism, joins the mix.

The Jupiterian element in the chart can add but a shallow faade of piety to

the violent tendencies of the chart- religious fanaticism. The major planetary

period belongs to Venus, who is the lord of two maraka houses, houses of death

and destruction. One of them is the seventh house, which is also the house of

partnerships. Libra sits there, which rules China. Pakisthan's threat waxed

ominously over India during the first half of the Venusian major period, which

began in 1988, all with the backing of China. But the maraka nature of the

seventh house suggests that the very viability of Pakisthan as a sovereign

nation will experience danger as a result. The sub period belongs to Saturn,

and began in July of 2001. Saturn is an evil planet for Aries, and an evil lord

of houses, too. Although Pakisthan had experienced the sub periods of some

rather strong planets during the first half of the major Venusian period, the

sub period of Saturn has ushered in some different karma and makes us think

more of the maraka nature of Venus in the Pakisthani chart. Pakisthan's

situation has degraded ever since the Twin Tower disaster in NYC in September

of 2001, shortly after the sub period of Saturn began. Currently, Pakisthan has

a much larger army in front of it, India's, and inimical forces in Afghanisthan

behind it. In one stroke, President G. W. Bush separated Pakisthan from its

base of support in China, surrounded it with North American allies, and twisted

its arm, practically forcing it back into the Western fold. But the sub period

of Saturn should not see Pakisthan involved in open war as Saturn does not have

any direct empowerment to do so. It does not own a house connected with warfare,

it does not sit in a fiery sign, nor receive the aspect of the fiery Mars or

Ketu. Saturn is directly surrounded by two benefics. The coming sub period of

Mercury, however, will change the story. ( August/2004 - June/2007 ) The lord

of the major period, Venus, already imparts some tendency towards destruction,

and Mercury owns not only the house of warfare, the sixth, but the third house

as well, a house indicating armed forces and related activity. India is also

under the planetary-period influences of Venus and Saturn. The Venus-Saturn sub

period started in September of 2001 and will continue until August of 2007. But

under India's rising sign, Taurus, Venus and Saturn acquire different natures

due to their different lordships over houses. Venus sits as the ascendent lord

in the third, giving the strength and determination to resist. It goes without

saying that any cruelty or anger on the part of India is sublimated by the

presence of benefics in that house- anger manifests as righteous anger,

determination is for the proper reasons, et cetera. The lord of the sub period,

Saturn, is the rajyogakaraka for India, the lord of purely good houses, and is

extremely well-placed for India in the third. In fact, the Sun, Venus, Saturn

and Mercury all contribute mightily to rajyoga in India's chart, all in the

third house, the house of the armed forces, and invloving lordship over the

house of warfare. The planets indicating struggle and war in Pakisthan's chart

do not at all suggest a positive outcome for the country. Rather, as we have

mentioned, Pakisthan's very continuity as a sovereign country is called into

question by their placement. This contrast between the two charts can be seen

in the Bangladesh war for independence. In December of 1971, the Indian Army,

far superior in numbers and equipment to that of Pakistan, executed a 3-pronged

pincer movement on Dhaka launched from the Indian states of West Bengal, Assam,

and Tripura, taking only 12 days to defeat the 90,000 member Pakistani army in

Bangladesh. The planetary periods which were in operation at the time of this

defeat and humiliation for Pakisthan were Mercury and the Moon. Mercury owns

two evil houses, the third, where the violent Mars is located, and the sixth

house, the house of war. The Moon is extremely waning and afflicted in

Pakisthan's chart, indicating the worst of karma. These two planets afflict the

fourth house representing territory and homeland. The Moon is so evil and weak

in the Paki chart that it afflicts the fourth house even though it is the very

lord of the fourth!. The final result was that Pakisthan lost a major chunk of

its territory in the defeat. In India's chart, on the other hand, the major and

minor periods of Mercury and the Sun were operating. Mercury is the lord of a

trine, the best type of lord in a horoscope- trinal lordship is always powerful

and favorable. The Sun was also extremely favorable as the lord of a quadrant.

Another war between India and Pakisthan is likely because warring against its

neighbors is an intrinsic part of Pakisthan's horoscope ( Mars in the third ).

It is likely to come about in the plantary periods of Venus-Mercury (

August/2004 - June/2007 ) in the chart of Pakisthan, the astrological rationale

for which we have already discused. The corresponding major and minor periods in

the horoscope of India are those of Venus-Saturn and Venus-Mercury; there is

overlap with Pakisthan's Venus-Saturn. The conflict will bring overwhelming

success for India as well as utter defeat for Pakisthan. In India's case, the

planetary periods belong to the extremely strong grouping of planets which

forms a tremendous raj yoga in the third house, while in the case of Pakisthan,

the planetary periods belong to the grouping of planets which afflicts the chart

and which has given defeat on previous occasions. There is simply no comparison.

With regards to the Indian chief executive, there is some confusion with regards

to the true horoscope of Shree Vajpyee, but the chart with Libra rising on

December 25, 1924, seems to be the correct one. The time usually given would

put Scorpio on the horizon, but the Scorpio chart could not possibly indicate

such a powerful, world leader; it doesn't have such strength. A slight

adjustment in time brings Libra on the horizon. Vajpayee's Libra chart puts

yogakraka Saturn in the ascendent in its sign of exaltation. Jupiter sits in

its own sign in the third house, the house of armed forces and struggle; the

Sun sits there is the friendly Sagittarius; and Mercury brings the

ever-auspicious trinal lordship to the house- all aspected by that tremendously

powerful Saturn. The pertinent planetary periods are those of Jupiter-Saturn and

Jupiter-Mercury. All are extremely powerful and benefically disposed.

Specifically, the lord of the major period, Jupiter, owns the house of war but

is favorable because he sits in his own sign in a favorable house. This is a

lot more than we can say for the lord of the house of war in Pakisthan's

national chart. Vajpayee's karma will be hard to beat over the coming years. He

should win any electoral challenges and knock the daylights out of Pakisthan

sometime after that country enters the sub period of Mercury, in August of

2004. Mercury is known for manifesting its results quickly and impulsively, so

Pakisthan should make its move shortly after the Quicksilver sub period begins.

The birth time of the Pakisthani head of state is not available, so we cannot

consider his horoscope properly. "Time I am, the great destroyer of worlds, and

I have come to engage all people. With the exception of you, all of these kings

and soldiers onboth sides will be slain." Bhagavad Gita, Eleventh ChapterVedic
