Dear Members, I am an Astrology student since July 2004 and have been always looking forward to our Members emails. This time I have done the chart of a friend who is a writer and the Head of a Language department, and am surprised at the chart because it gives one Leo lagna with debilitated Mercury AND Jupiter!!! I know that both her sun and Mars are exalted, but can these 2 planets help an afflicted Moon, debilitated Mercury and weak Venus? I have checked her Navamsa but cannot find anything that would counterpart the rasi chart. Her data is April 22nd 1973 at 14:13 in Würzburg, Germany. Your valuable comments would be extremelly welcome in helping me understand Astrology! Thanks a million! Guest guest
Dear Rui, Let's try to clear the muddy waters a little bit if we can... First and foremost it's a huge mistake to attempt to judge a chart (in total) according to the status of what we (might) think are key planets, whilst ignoring other factors. As we know, the most important house of all is the Ascendant and this should be judged first before any other as it's from here we see such important things as the native's innate nature (character, prikriti etc). The position and strength of ascendant lord will show one's social standing and position in life to a great degree. The fact of the matter is that a native may have a very strong intellect (due to exaltation of Mercury) and a strong spiritual calling & gain much knowledge in life (due to exaltation of Jupiter) yet, in spite of this, may not rise in stature (achieve success) or be recognised easily for his/her abilities/qualities due to influences on Ascendant and/or position of Ascendant lord. If we look at the native's chart in this light we see that lagnesh Sun, conjunct 10th lord Venus, is exalted in 9th house...9th house governs higher learning, fortune and so forth...(this is just very basic, you can look more into this house yourself as time permits). Another vital point when assessing a horoscope is the position and strength of ascendant lord's dispositor...here we see Mars, dispositor of both lagnesh Sun and 10th lord Venus, exalted and in the company of Jupiter (giving rise to neecha bhanga yoga) whilst 9th lord's dispositor (Saturn) sits in 10th in constellation of 9th lord itself. Important also is exalted 9th lord's aspect on both 9th and 1st houses...as well his aspect on 12th (4th from 9th). I'll leave it here for now and let you do some more studying of the chart yourself...let me know how you do :-) Best Wishes, Mrs. Wendy http://JyotishVidya.com ______________________________ - "RPM" <rupamede <hanskpvedic>; <jyotish-vidya>; "jr" <> Saturday, August 20, 2005 3:55 AM Unbelievable nonsense chart??? Guest guest
PS: Consider also the significance of 1st/10th lords aspect on 3rd. This house governs communications through writing and so forth...consider also (in this light) the exaltation of Mars, karaka for 3rd, aspecting 3rd lord and Sun whilst his dispositor (Saturn) occupies 10th etc, etc.. There is much to see in this chart, if you know where to look, and you have the advantage of knowing much about the native...this is always helpful as it points our eyes in the right direction :-) ___ Dear Rui, Let's try to clear the muddy waters a little bit if we can...
