dear all,

Very important and systematic conclusions can be drawn based on the

arudha lagna.I have seen people have replied the querries based on the

combinations of arudha lagna. (eg: ketu resides in arudha= native is

often misunderstood, A6 and A12 falls in the same house resided by

saturn will lead to the person leading a life of bachelor etc)

But to my dismay, I have never found any consolidated information on

arudha lagna

The group may kindly enlighten me on any books that deal with arudha

lagna and other arudha houses.

Dear Kishore,

If I may - bring my two cents to the topic - I believe Arudha Lagna

and the other arudhas are Jamini techniques vs. Parashara.

This is a very interesting subject and I too would like to hear from

learned members on this topic.

In the meantime, I can share what little I have read from various

areas.

I do not have any books exclusively on Jamini but there are a few

available. A good one I beleive is from India?? A Google search

might help you.

Anyway, from what I understand, Arudhas are an illusionary

reflection or projection of the person from the house that it

occupies. For instances. Arudha Lagna could be placed in a very

cogenial house and sign that is very gargarious and amendable with

others. Say 11th house Cancer with exhalted Jupiter aspecting 5th

house from Jupiter, Scorpio/Mar house of creative identity. Where as

in reality or shall one say in private - the birthchart true Lagna

in 8th hse Aries/Ma with Saturn, would be one who is very firey and

indifferent with restrictive narrow opinions and judgements

aspecting the third house from Saturn, Gemini/Mer house of

communications..

So I think Arudhas are the surface projections of a person, that

others see and interpet. Where as, where the Lagna and other

planets are placed and their effects in a birth chart are the true

personality charaterizations of a person.

Have you ever met someone and thought their Lagna was one way until

you got to know them better and understood who they really are

projecting? That's Arudha lagna vs Lagna of self.

Too, as you have written, as everything else in chart delineation,

where the Arudha Lagna is placed and how it effects or combines in

the rest of the chart, needs to be taken into great detail. In other

words, there is not one arudha that can stand on its own for

authenticity.

Jamini and Parashara are different techniques and should not be

mixed. However, I have done this vary thing myself in ignorance.

For instances; applying a jamini technique of say Arudha Lagna in

8th hse with Saturn ruled by Mars against a 1st house Lagna

Virgo/Mer with Jupiter.

I really don't know how to read a Jamini Arudha chart vs. a

parasara chart in delineation or rather, how the arudhas in a Jamini

chart technique stand on their own without comparison or within

combination to a parashara chart.

Hope this helps a little

Urrara :-)

Dear All,

Namaste

Is Arudha Lagna the same as Lagna Pada? It looks that way at first

glance and if this is so then Parashara does cover this topic in

BPHS Chapter 29 & 30.

>From BPHS Chapter 29 (Bhava Padas):

"1-3. METHOD OF PADA CALCULATIONS:

O Brahmin, I shall now tell you about the Padas (or Arudhas) for

bhavas and planets as well, as laid down by the earlier great sages.

The Pada of the ascendant will correspond to the sign arrived at by

counting so many signs from the ascendant lord as he is away from

the ascendant. Similarly Padas for other houses be known through

their lords. The word "Pada" exclusively denotes the Pada for the

ascendant (or Lagna Pada)."

Thanks,

Sean

Hi Sean,

knowledge on my part - is that there are many Jamini techinques that

have been mixed into the Parasahra through the years of

intrepatation and translations. But should not be used together.

I beleive Wendy has mentioned this in the past.

I would like to get a clearer understanding of this too.

I think mixing the two at least from what I understand, is often

troubling for the basic knowledge of accurate interpetation of a

chart.

P.s. On the home page of Jyotish-Vidya forum here. Wendy has an

excellant explanation of the two systems and techniques for further

evaluation.

Dear Uttara,

OK, Thanks for the information. I guess the chapter on Karakamsa is

Jaimini as well?

Take it easy,
