Hi Neena,

Beware, this guy uses his own ayanamsa. You probably want to use

Lahiri's ayanamsha, which gives an ascendant of 18d Taurus, and moon

3d Aries, using JHora and Goravani. If anyone gets different values,

please correct me :-)

-Barney,

I am getting Taurus lagna with Moon in the 12th and vargottama.

Sun is in Ucha navamsa, Venus too is in Ucha navamsa and Mars is in

its own(Scorpio) navamsa.

I am getting 15* Taurus as lagna which too is vargottama.

But this degree of lagna is afflicted by the Rahu -Ketu axis.

Need to study this chart further.

what are your observations on this chart?

I agree, except that I get 18d15' Taurus ascendant (with Goravani,

JHL5 and Maitreya's Dream), which means a different navamsa

ascendant to the one you have. I don't know where this difference

comes from - maybe London has moved :-) Or maybe you're using a

time of 12:05 instead of 12:15? The birth time might not have been

recorded that accurately anyway...

Dear Tarun,

It would be wise to study the chart, along with the facts at hand,

before reaching any decision. You're correct to note the significance

of 3rd/8th house in relation to death, but, had you taken the time to

look into the matter, you would surely have realised that (suicidal)

death by drowning is supported with Taurus lagna.

Note 3rd house (cause of death) owned by Cancer and occupied by

solitary Gulika whilst his dispositor (Moon), in 12th, is associated

with karaka for 8th (Saturn) and 8th lord Jupiter. The dasa at time

of death was RA-KE-SU-VE(?). Please look at the transits on this day.

To the best of my understanding (Parashara Ch.92.):

Out of the three kinds of gandanta i.e. tithi, nakshatra and lagna;

Mula(Sagittarius), known as 'Abhukta Mula', which considers the last

6 ghatikas of Jyestha and first 8 ghatikas of Mula as the critical

junction.

Perhaps some learned members who still have a hand in manual

calculations can add more to this :-)

If Moon were in the 9th house or any other house would suicidal

drowning still hold good for Taurus lagna?

Yes Wendy, you are right.

Jhora is giving a slightly different longitude for London.

PL is the one that is right I think.

My comp had crashed and PL is not accessible because I need to

contact them to get teh key.

So that obviously means it is not Vargottama lagna.

As they say; many ingredients go into making a cake - change just one

or two of the ingredients and you have a different cake:-)

1. As you said, 3rd house is governed by Cancer (a water sign).

2. Moon in 12th exchanges nakshatra lords with Ketu (co-ruler of 7th

maraka sthana).

3. In Ashtamsha, Moon conjuncts Gulika in lagna.

4. Moon in 12th is conjunct debilitated Saturn (significator of

longevity). Debilitated yogakaraka Saturn, conjunct 3rd/8th lords, is

extremely weak in ShadBala, as are Moon and Mercury.

At the time of her death, dasa lord Rahu's dispositor (maraka lord

Mars), transiting 9th, was aspecting 12th/3rd houses whilst

transiting bhukti lord Ketu was conjunct transiting VE, SU, MO in

11th etc, etc..

I'll leave these cursory observations here for now and try to

concentrate a little more on the chart in the next day or so

(suffering a little from lack of sleep at the moment - amazing how

one can function on 'auto pilot')...hoping for input from other

members also :-)

is placed and which nakashtra in this case it is placed in eight house in

the sharavan nakshatra sharavan nakashatra is nakshatra of moon.

simple no gulika or outer planet is required to explain the events. check

It seems Maharishi Parashara has a different idea. See Ch.44:

25-31. THIRD HOUSE AND DEATH:

"O excellent of Brahmins, if the Sun, being with strength, is in the

3rd house from the ascendant, one will obtain his death due to a king

(or legal punishments).

The Moon in the 3rd will cause death due to tuberculosis while

wounds, weapons, fire, and thirst will cause death through Mars in

the 3rd. If the 3rd be aspected or occupied by Saturn and Rahu, death

will be through poison, water or fire, or fall from heights or

confinement. Death will surely come to descend through insects or

leprosy if the Moon and Gulika occupy or aspect the 3rd house.

Mercury aspecting or occupying the 3rd will bring death following

fever. Jupiter in the 3rd or aspecting the 3rd will cause death by

swelling or tumors. Urninary diseases will cause death if Venus is in

the 3rd or aspects the 3rd. Many planets aspecting or occupying will

bring death through many diseases."

In the chart we speak of both lagnesh Venus and significator for self

are (along with Mars dispositor Mercury) aspecting 3rd house...might

this not suggest that the native's own actions might have been the

cause of death? Note the aspect of Mars. As you know Tarun, your

ayanamsha was tried and tested on the previous JyotishVidya group

(and many others) and was found to be inaccurate. Comments such as

"3rd house has no role with death" does nothing to further your

cause.
