Dear fellow jyotishis,

The 3rd SJC Annual Conference at Mumbai tided over smoothly and it was the best

conference I have attended so far in terms of quality of the papers presented.

Each paper was a surprise and of such a high calibre that it raised the

standards of discussion very high indeed. To name a few, Lakshmi Ramesh on the

Sri Chakra, Kasturi Rangan on the Shankaracharyas and Renunciation, Hari

Mahalingam on Higher Education, Ram Narayan on the Philosophy of the

Kalachakra, Sanjayji on Kalachakra Dasha, were some of the more outstanding

presentations. There were several first time presenters: Prashun Dutt from

Singapore who spoke on his long-term research on Ashtakavarga, Bojan, Maja and

Branka from Serbia who spoke on Transits, Kanupriya Singh spoke on Narayana

Dasha, seniour and respected astrologer Divekarji from Nagpur, also spoke on

Ashtakavarga. Apart from this other regular paper presenters were our very own

Chandrashekharji, Zoran, who was here with 6 students from Serbia, G. K. Goel,

Visti Larsen (who spoke on Accidents among other things!), J. K. Dasgupta who

did a novel take on Sahams, Andrew Foss and myself.

The most delightful surprise was Chandubhai Patel's presence at the inauguration

when he enthralled us with his nuggets on retrogression of planets in transit.

It was a rare treat indeed to listen to him and be amazed at the agility of his

mind at the ripe age of 90. C. S. Patel was the Chief Guest along with the Vice

Chancellor of the Kavi Kulaguru Sanskrit University, Dr. Pankaj Chande.

It was a pleasure to meet several SJC members for the first time both from the

SJC and the Vedic-Astrology List. And last, but not least, J. K. Dasgupta

managed an incredible event almost single-handed. We will anounce the moment

the CDs are ready. They will be available from the SJC office at Delhi.

Meanwhile the papers are available in the January 2005 and the forthcoming

April 2005 issues of Jyotish Digest.

The 4th SJC Annual Conference in January 2006 will be in Delhi.

Best regards,

Sarbani

Dear Sarbani,

Would you please tell all of us what the charge for these tapes will be? Once we

know this we can send the money to shorten the delay in getting to hear the

tapes.

And, what did Mr. Goel speak on?

Thanks,

Phyllis
