Guest guest
|| Om Krsna Guru || Dear Vistiji, Namaskar After your comments regarding curses and graha dristi, I realised that my understanding of what exactly graha dristi is, is somewhat lacking. I spent quite a while thinking about it, which has left me with a rather confusing melange of incoherent thoughts. Could you kindly help me sift through some of this? Let me present my thoughts, so you can see where I am: The 7th house represents Kama, desire, and shows our desires. Presumably the 7th house from every house shows our desires with respect to that house. Is this correct so far? Graha dristi denotes the desire of the planets, that are manifested in each of us according to our birth chart. All planets aspect the 7th because the 7th is the house of Kama, desire. These aspects are variable and fluid (i.e., increase and decrease gradually, not fixed-point aspects), and therefore the 7th house (and special aspects for Mars, Jupiter, Saturn), will show a concentration of desire in some particular direction. Now, it must be that each planet shows desires according to the nature of that planet. So Jupiter's aspects will show desires regarding knowledge (and the 5/9 house aspects of Jupiter show desires relating to knowledge of the past and future). Is this correct? Another try. The 7th house aspect of Mars will show what we tend to want to fight about - right? Meanwhile the 4th house aspect of Mars shows what we want to protect, while the 8th house aspect of Mars shows what we want to harm/destroy the longevity of. I hope I'm on the right track. Now, this needs to be extended to include the house which the planet aspects. So let's say Mars is in the 4th house. Then it has a 4th house aspect on the 7th - which shows a desire to protect 7th house matter (spouse etc). The 7th house aspect falls on the 10th - which shows a desire for conflict in the career (?), while the 8th house aspect on the 11th might show a desire to harm one's friends/elder siblings (?). If that understanding is correct (I'm not sure it is), then I proceed to the questions that trouble me: How do we distinguish between the desires of the atma and the desires of the mind? The atma has one desire - which is to return from where it came, but order to fulfill this, there must be other lesser desires to complete the lessons that must be learned before the final desire can be fulfilled. But the desires of the mind will often interfere with this. Is this correct, or I am making it more complicated than it is? It is said that the 7th house shows desires - so for example the 7th from UL shows what we want in our spouse. How are these desires different from the desires shown by the graha dristi of the various planets? This might sound a little long-winded, but let me try to make it as clear as I can. Taking the example of a curse of a brahmin (i.e., malefics having graha dristi on Jupiter): The dristi of these malefics will cause the person to have negative desires towards the people represented by Jupiter (brahmins, Guru, etc). Right? So this might drive them to do something negative towards such people. But I thought that it was because they did some such thing in the first place (i.e. previous life), that they are suffering the curse! So on the one hand they are suffering because of something they did, and yet the graha dristi shows that they have the desire to do the same thing again! I this the case, or have I missed a vital point? I have many more questions - but I think many will be answered if some of the confusion I have displayed above is cleared up, so I'll wait with them. I will be very grateful to receive any guidance you can give me (and hopefully other list members) about this. Pranaam, Samir

Try this excercise. See which houses are recieving the graha dristi by Mars. You will feel a great deal of insecurity about those houses. See which houses are recieving the graha dristi of Saturn. You will feel ashamed, sensitive or weak in matters of those houses. Now these negative emotions arise due to having caused another person to feel these emotions. Those people whom you caused this is seen from the planets being aspected by the malefics; saturn, rahu and mars. Pranaam, Samir ~ om tat sat ~ Thank you for maintaining the decorum of the Achyuta Ashram. Reminders: (1) Recite the Shadakshari Mantra 'Hare Rama Krishna' (2) Try to become Vegetarian - remember Akbar the Great who said that the human stomach should not become a graveyard for animals. Guest guest
|| Om Krsna Guru || Dear Vistiji, Namaskar Thank you! Things are much clearer now. Regarding the 7th from Karakamsa, how do we go about determining what the desires of the atma are? So if there's a planet there, should we consider it's natural significations, or it's D-9, or Rasi placement/lordships (or all of these) to see what the atma wishes to achieve? As always, in gratitude, Samir "Visti Larsen" <visti Wed Apr 20, 2005 1:13 pm RE: [Om Krishna Guru] The meaning of Graha Dristi ||Hare Rama Krsna|| Dear Samir, Namaskar The desires of the atma (which caused rebirth) is seen from the seventh from karakamsa.
