Guest guest
Dear Visti,Pranaam I have AK mercury with 11th lord Venus in lagna and both are aspecting 11th house. This satisfies the below mentioned atma-level sambandha in learning jyotish. I remember reading in your book that planets in 11th also indicate how does one learn, for example, saturn indicates learning through some tradition/parampara. I have Jupiter in 11th house, does it indicate learning through a Guru as Jupiter also happens to be 9th lord. The same jupiter is deblitated in Navamsa resulting in less/zero fortune through this. Is this correct assumtion ? Guest guest
Dear Visti, Pranaam. This is one of the combinations stressed upon at SJC and with just cause. The role of the 11th House and the AK does indeed shed great light on the matter. In one's own chart (as rectified by you) (11th June, 1972; Cuttack, Orissa; 10:17AM), the AK Surya is placed in the 10th House with Saturn and Moon and the dispositor of the AK, Venus is placed in the 11th House with the 11th Lord and the Yogakaraka Mangal. There is Rashi Drishti with Guru in the 5th House in Dhanu as well. Jyotish has been a central theme in life since the Guru Dasha began. Regards. What if the AK is in the 11th house in D-24 rather than the Rasi Chart would this show any ability to learn Jyotish? Guest guest
Hare Rama Krsna:: Dear Visti, Namaskar, Regarding the following: > Point is that for one to be interested in Jyotish > there must be an > atma-level sambandha. Without the atma there is no > desire or ability to > learn jyotish. Are there any other combinations for this? I found that in all charts of great astrologers there was this one combination you mention of Atmakaraka and eleventh house in Rasi. There is no such combination in my own chart, so where does my desire spring from? The other point was that there are also many people with the Atmakaraka in sambandha with eleventh house in Rasi who have no faith, let alone desire, in Jyotish. So how can we be sure? It seems that there is more to it. Respectfully, Michal. Guest guest
In the book compiled by the Students of SJC-Boston ( Lessons on Vedic Astrology by PVR Narasimha Rao ) which can be downloaded at http://vedicastro.home.comcast.net/book1.htm At the beginning of Lesson 28 it states that: 1. D24 - 2nd (application of occult knowledge, prediction) 5th (overall intelligence) 8th (occult knowledge you learn) 11th (4th from 8th is learning Occult knowledge) These are the important houses for learning occult knowledge. 2. D-24 Link b/n atmakaraka and 11th, means soul level connection for learning astrology. It is very important. 3. If you are checking someone's status use Arudha Lagna 4. D-24 4th house is for grasping and 5th house is retention. Check their Lords. In my Rasi Chart there is no connection between my AK and the 11th house. That does not make sense though because I have a lot of interest in Jyotish. However, if you look at my D-24 chart my AK is in the 11th house. So what are you thoughts on checking the 11th house in D-24 for atma-level interest in learning Jyotish? Regards, Shruti Shruti Patel <shrupata > wrote: Dear Guru Visti Larsen, Thanks for your reply. What if the AK is in the 11th house in D-24 rather than the Rasi Chart would this show any ability to learn Jyotish? Does Jupiter fallen in the 8th house in D-24 mean that the person must put in more effort and concentration to learn? Also what role does the 9th house and 5th house play in the D-24 chart? Regards, ShrutiVisti Larsen <visti (AT) (DOT) org> wrote: ||Hare Rama Krsna|| Dear Shruti, Namaskar. I’ve never heard of Jupiters placement in the eighth house giving an ability for Jyotish. I was taught quite differently in this regard. Also i don’t remember seeing this placement in the charts of jyotishas. Jupiters placement in the Siddhamsa (d24) will indicate how good you are at learning anything. Preferably Jupiter should be in a kendra or eleventh house, to ensure that the person is very receptive when learning. Here the Lagna is intelligence or application of the same. The fourth house is the reading of books and scriptures, in a formal scene. The seventh house is the interaction with others and learning through discussions and interactions. The tenth house is sight or visualizing the knowledge whilst it is taught. Finally the eleventh house helps the person learn through hearing, i.e. perfect rememberance through hearing. But these can be good for anyone to learn, be it jyotish or chemistry. Point is that for one to be interested in Jyotish there must be an atma-level sambandha. Without the atma there is no desire or ability to learn jyotish. For this reason one combination which is always eulogized among sjc-members is; the Atmakaraka must associate with the eleventh house in Rasi. In BV Ramans chart, the AK is chandra and is in mutual dristi with eleventh lord Guru and forming gajakesari yoga in the kendras for fame through jyotish. In KN Rao’s chart, the AK is eleventh lord. In Sanjay Rath’s chart, his AK is in the eleventh house. In PVR Narasimha Rao’s chart, AK is the eleventh lord. In my chart, the dispositor of AK is in the eleventh house. Look for this simple, yet important combination first, or figure out how it is playing out in your chart. Then after seeing this, you can look for yogas for fame, or good predictions, etc. Best wishes, *** Visti Larsen For services and articles visit: http://srigaruda.com or http://astrovisti.com *** [] On Behalf Of shrupata02 September 2005 13:04To: Subject: [Om Krishna Guru] Learning Jyotish to Guru Visti Larsen Dear Guru Visti Larsen, Can you please explain some points a person should have to show if they have the ability to learn Jyotish. Guest guest
Dear Jyotisha, Pranaam In line with the current discussion and what sameer asked... My AK Venus is joined 11th lord Mercury in the fourth house of education. What would be the influence of "Ketu" in 11th house. In navamsa I have "Ketu" in trine to AK which also form a yoga for learning astrology. Should we take "Ketu" in 11th house as learning through highly spiritual person? Also can it indicate the person in the sense that "Ketu" is Gurudev's Lagan lord and involved in Kalaamrit yoga? (Govinda) Sinse I asked this question about Jupiter in D24/8H to Samir, let me state that I heard from SJC Guru PVR Narasimha Rao saying in one of his lectures given to his students in Boston something about that. Abstract is that D24/8H is important for learning astrology. No mention of Jupiter there by Narasimha. He says: "D24 is the chart of education and 4th house is the main hoise of learning. But for occult learning it is 8th house. In general 8th house is the house of hidden things and house of tapasya, and occult knowledge does not come just by reading a book, it is realy hidden knowledge and only through tapasya and sadhana you understand that klowledge. So for knowledge like Astrology the 8th house is more important, then 4th house. If we listen by Winamp player, lecture #7, 35th minute, 50th second, one finds this text above. One can also download the main points from those lectures collected in an e-book, which is found at Narasimha Rao's site http://www.vedicastrologer.org/ there find this link "the website maintained by my students" Then "here" where one can download the book. The text I found on the MP3 lecture is also there in the book, Lesson #7, paragraph 9. "9. Occult learning – hidden knowledge - see 8th house in D24 – House of hiding and tapasya. for example Jyotisha doesn't just come by reading a book, 8th house strength is needed to make it fruitful." >From this I concluded that Jupiter in Sagittarius in D24/8H would be conducive for Jyotish, although Narasimha Rao said only that 8th House is important. He didn't mention Jupiter there in his own house. This is my situation, if Samir and I have properly determined my BT, which I think we did. You said that Atma karaka association with 11th house in Rasi shows Jyotish. I started Jyotish 8 months ago during Mercury-Rahu dasa. Rahu in my chart gives Graha Drsti to 11th house, where Saturn resides. Graha dristi is temporary, so it would mean starting something. Rahu is in Capricorn in 7th house and Saturn is in 11th in Taurus, so Rahu and Saturn have mutual permanent or Rasi Dristi, which would mean started study will continue. My atmakaraka is Rahu. I was quite happy finding this out. AK dispositor in 11th AK rasi and graha dristi on AK dispositor in 11th AK dispositor's rasi dristi on his own house. AK dispositor's rasi dristi on AK. Saturn involved in Maha Yogada. Rahu vargottama Saturn strong per astakavarga Maha Yogada and Jupiter in D24 applies if BT=4.46 as decided by Samir. Just a small comment although most likely full of mistakes. It substantiates my faith in me learning Jyotish. ys Govinda > > > > Jupiters placement in the Siddhamsa (d24) will indicate how good you are at > learning anything. Guest guest
Dear Jyotisas, namaste. I support Michals line of questioning in this discussion. Most of the great astrologers satisfy this criteria but it is not a necessary and sufficient criteria. In my rasi chart, I do not have any tangible connection between the AK Mars and the 11th house or 11th lord, Mercury. But in navamsa, Mercury is in 7th from karakamsa. Just before the onset of Mars mahadasa (Vimsottari), I first started dabbling in astrology and the learning accelerated after the mahadasa commenced. regards Hari On 9/3/05, ajayzharotia <zharotia (AT) dataone (DOT) in> wrote: Dear Jyotisha, PranaamIn line with the current discussion and what sameer asked...My AK Venus is joined 11th lord Mercury in the fourth house of education. Guest guest
color:#FF0080">||Hare Rama Krsna|| Dear Michal, Namaskar Just keep in mind that there must be a desire on the atma-level. In the example you cite of George Bush, i’ve heard rumors that he does seek the help of astrologers. In your chart there is not link between atmakaraka and the eleventh house/lord. However we are also taught that retrograde planets carry a very strong desire from past lives, i.e. on an atma level. Normally a planets desire manifests on an intellectual (lagna) and mental (mana) level. Retrograde planets have a desire manifest on a soul level as well. You will notice that Guru is eleventh lord in your chart and is retrograde. Guru Mahadasa has been running since 2001. Guest guest
color:#FF0080">||Hare Rama Krsna|| Dear Ajay and Sameer, Namaskar The nature of the planet in the eleventh house will show the approach one has. One with Saturn there will be more focussed on the teachings of the elders, and will not easily take on any modern research or teachings. Surya does the opposite and tries to get knowledge from every possible source.. focus is on understanding here. Mercury and Jupiter are more focussed on the learning they can get from actual teachers, and here there is less application and more theory and philosophy. This way you can differentiate between the planets. Normally a planets desire manifests on an intellectual (lagna) and mental (mana) level. Retrograde planets have a desire manifest on a soul level as well. You will notice that Guru is eleventh lord in your chart and is retrograde. Guru Mahadasa has been running since 2001. Guest guest
color:#FF0080">||Sha’shankara|| Dear Ajit, Namaskar. The Vedanga we will learn is seen from the planets linking Ketu to the Shastyamsa lagna. Atharva Veda is associated with Jyotish and Mangala is the graha. This is supposed to by Makata-mukha (monkey face), and hence we astrologers say; “Hanumukha Siddhirastu” whilst installing the atharva veda on our face. Zoran’s point about Shukra is right... See, the good jyotishas do indeed have a strong Shukra so that they can be good consultants and advisors to people. That is why the greatest Jyotishas come from the Paramparas of Brighu (shukra) and Angirasa (Guru). In my book i’ve mentioned these two grahas with reference to Varnada Lagna... that is the point. However, the knowledge coming from the Yajurveda isn’t specifically jyotish. I have an Aquarius lagna. The 11th house lord is Jupiter which is retrograde. Venus is placed in the 11th house. My AK is Mars and is placed in the 12th house of Capricorn. The 12th house is directly aspected by Jupiter. Is there any relation for atma-level learning Jyotish? Guest guest
Dear Visti, Yes, Rahu is the connecting factor. I think it was Ma-Ra when I first came into contact with vedic astrology group, bought two books on astrology both by the same author name Rao, but chose PVRN Rao instead and Ma-Ju when I met Sanjay/guidance under SJC Guru Partha/Sarajit/Purushothaman etc. Rahu is also the istadevata and thus I see jyotisa more as a research subject / stepping stone in the quest for spiritual knowledge. Sometime in Sun dasa, I asked my uncle for a simple book in vedic astrology but was unable to understand head or tail of it. In the AK dasa, however the learning was much easier, almost effortless. Soul-level connection must indeed be there to absorb the occult knowledge. regards Hari On 9/3/05, Visti Larsen <visti (AT) (DOT) org> wrote: ||Hare Rama Krsna|| Dear Hari, Namaskar Rahu is connecting the eleventh house and AK, in your chart. Guest guest
|| Hare Rama Krishna || Namaskar, after Visti-ji pointed out the necessary/important link between AK and 11H, I am finding that in my chart I have AK and Lagnesha Me located is the sixth house (Sc - occult sign) and aspecting the 11H. Also, 11L Ma which also happens to be the co- dispositor of AK is aspecting both AK (in 6H), 11H, and 8H. Incidentally, AK Me is both Lagnesha and 4th Lord. Ju in Lagna probably strengthens scholarship. However, according to Guru Narasimha-ji, in siddhamsa, 2,5,8,11 are the important houses for learning and being a successful astrologer. I find that in siddhamsa, the connection in this respect is stronger. What I am not understanding is how to bridge Visti-ji's said houses( 1,4,7,10,11) with what Narasimha-ji said (2,5,8,11). Also, Visti-ji, with the current Ju-Me dasa over and Ju-Ke dasa starting how shall I progress in Jyotisa learning ? Is it possible that I choose jyotisha as a profession in future ? My birth time is with Visti-ji already. If others are interested, I am giving it below. 3, January, 1978, 17:34 (p.m.) Calcutta, India. Guest guest
Hare Rama Krsna:: Thanks Visti, It is very clear now. Atma is a big concept, and I felt that the definition was to narrow and with to many anomalies. So, the Atmakaraka, though the most prominent, is not the exclusive means we have to view our soul's journey. Retrograde planets are also revealing. And of course Rahu and Ketu, who are always retrograde. So if the Atmakaraka was retrograde it would show a lot of Atma strength coming through - would it not? And is this also why Rahu Atmakaraka is seen in the charts of great spiritualists? BTW this same retrograde Guru in the chart goes to the 11th house in D24. Visti Larsen <visti (AT) (DOT) org> wrote: ||Hare Rama Krsna|| Dear Michal, Namaskar Just keep in mind that there must be a desire on the atma-level. I went over my chart again. Guest guest
|| Hare Rama Krsna || Dear Guruji, Pranaam, I (perhaps fortunately) don't have any retrograde grahas in my chart, apart from the nodes of course. And there is no link between the AK/dispositor and the 11th house. So presumably one would have to look elsewhere to find the atma-level desire that brought me to Jyotisa. AK is strong in the 11th house in D-24 - which is the only link I can find, there being none in the Rasi chart. Does this mean that I may not become too attached to Jyotisa?
