question about remedies for afflicted planets

Dear Sirs,

I have just joined this group as im trying to learn jyotish from books

untill I have the opportunity to find a teacher and would appreciate

your help with a problem I have encountered in my own rasi.

The lagna lord saturn is conjunct with sun in the tenth house in libra

which is the suns fallen sign. This poor placement for the sun has

caused me alot of troubles with career in my life.

A jyotishi has recommended that I wear blue sapphire to enhance

afflicted saturn.

My assumption is that I cannot wear a ruby to help the sun without

damaging planets close the the sun (saturn and mercury) but the problem

remains the sun needs some help so what to do?
