I don't feel particularly cursed or anything - but there have been challenges in the past - maybe also the future - which I now feel confident of facing with the grace of my Guru. Its just that I wanted to understand the difficult aspects in the horoscope for greater awareness. In one of the discussions on this subject I remember that someone had mentioned that the 9th House from Badhak sthan signifies curses. This house for me is Virgo which does not have any planet. But I do have a clustering of planets on the 2-8 axis. There are the 2 malefics Rahu and Mars glaring away at 4 planets in the 2nd house. Was wondering what this signifies. I did use one example where i was seeing the badhaka from the ninth lord, to see the badhaka to the Guru (ninth lord), but nothing else. In your cases the lagnesh and atmakaraka is Venus, and is not strongly associated with the curse on jupiter. Instead Venus is aspected by Saturn (eighth lord) and Mars, thus making the curse of spouse (venus) must stronger in your chart. To overcome it you should worship your atmalinga, with a Shiva mantra. The specific form is trayambakeshvara. The mantra is Om Namah Shivaaya Trayambakaaya Haum Joom Sah. Just for a little more understanding of the subject - do I take it that Jupiter is not cursed but Venus is through aspect of Saturn and Mars. You have written, "Venus is aspected by Saturn (eighth lord)" Isn't my 8th Lord Jupiter? I do appreciate the point that the curse is related to the AK and Lagnesh and in my case it the aspect of two malefics on Venus which is more important for the curse. Though my knowledge of astrology is extremely limited, intuitively I was under the impression that the curse had something to do with Rahu which is in the 8th house both in Rasi and Navamsa. Three planets are in the star of Rahu too. Could you throw some light on the nature of Rahu and MArs in my chart, going by the initial statement, "Normally we look for curses through the ....conjunction of 2 or more malefics on a house or planet" Is there a VRY on account of Mars in 8th conjoined by a debilitated (?) One may have many curses in the chart, but only one MAIN curse. It is the main curse, which is deciding the main experiences, whilst the sub-curses are just adding to the intensity of the main curse. I.e. you earned a curse from spouse, by doing something terribly wrong to your spouse in the past life, and the guru or brahmin was also affected by this and this has become an additional curse. The benefic planet will indicate curser (Jupiter - learned person, Venus - lover) etc. The aspect must be Graha Dristi as desire must be involved. To see when it will manifest see the dasa of Malefics in Moola Dasa. Rahu can give curse when posited in Jupiter Signs. A freely available resource for understanding Moola Dasha is available at: http://www.srath.com/lectures/moola_dasa.htm The dasha ha sbeen applied in better understandig the curse in Lord Sri Rama's chart. For curses, 2 or more krura grahas (such as Rahu, Shani and Mangal) should have drishti on another graha. Rahu would represent shock; Shani -- deep sorrow and Mangal -- anger. It would help if you (or other list members) posted full birth details for a more comprehensive analyis. As I told u in my initial message, I do not feel particularly cursed now that I have a guru. My endeavour to understand the chart is basically as part of an inner journey to understand the self. Sometimes we even get inspired in our actions to direct our life in particular ways after we understand the shortfalls and strenghts which may be there from past lives. It is interesting to note that Rahu in the sign of Jupiter can give a curse. What would be the nature of this curse? You have written that "The aspect must be Graha Dristi as desire must be involved". Jupiter (the curser) has a second house aspect on Rahu. Rahu is a planet of desires. But what kind of desires can it have in the 8th House in a sign of debilitation (?) and sign of Jupiter is something I have to fathom with your help. "To see when it will manifest see the dasa of Malefics in Moola Dasa." Checked up the Moola dasha and found that Rahu MD got over in July 2005. So is the curse of Jupiter over? The next 2 MDs are of benefics. So can one presume that the effect of curses will not manifest during these periods? But isn't Venus a bigger curser in my case? Does that mean curse from mother? What can be done to alleviate it? What areas of life are affected by this? Does this affect mind also(as moon also represents mind)? (DOB: 3rd July, 1954; 2.43 a.m.; Lucknow). Once long back u had mentioned that the ninth house from badhaka sthan indicates the curse and its nature and I kept puzzling over how Mercury indicated a curse for me. Curse of Saturn, Mars and Rahu by Venus and Jupiter fits the pattern better. I am basically interested in identifying the difficult areas in my chart since I believe that knowledge about ourselves helps to understand the impulses that drive us. This is important if we want to consciously change ourselves. I shall be grateful for your views on the subject. We can forget about the 9th from Badhakesh as this point has already been clarified by Vistiji and now by you. 2. You have written that the main curse is not of Venus whereas Vistiji was of the opinion that this was the main curse. May I know what are the reasons for difference in perception? 3. Venus' age has been mentioned in pairs of 2 numbers (6 25; 26 6). As regards 52 I am currently runnin the 52nd year and do not feel particularly cursed. In fact things are moving towards a more peaceful life, in some ways I think. 4. Shocks during Rahu Moola dasha - again I don't remember anything major. I have given the detailed feedback so as to improve my own understanding of the placement of planets in my chart. In a way astrology has helped me. Ever since I read in Rathji's article that those with Venus as Atmakaraka have to be particularly careful about leading a "pure" life, I have become very much on guard. If there is any past life karma / curse I don't want it to be repeated in this life. Maybe these are only my conjectures since my knowledge of astrology is so limited. That is why I wanted the help of gurujis and those with more knowledge of the subject like you to help me understand things better. I would once again like to thank you for your effort and time. My mother had 7 children, five of whom were elder to me and all male and two of whom passed away at ages 2.5yr. and 3-4yrs. I have a younger brother and there was a sister too who was born but passed away within a month or so of her birth. My mother has an elder sister and younger brother surviving her. There were many younger brothers who were born and did not survive till the now surviving brother was "donated" to a well known mahanta but returned as "prasad" by the Mahanta to my grandmother. My mother passed away in 1987. My younger brother has been fairly comfortable financially. The financial problems of my father were not very pronounced in the period you have mentioned. Many thanks for such a detailed response. 1. We can forget about the 9th from Badhakesh as this point has already been clarified by Vistiji and now by you. [Via NK] OK. In agreement. 2. You have written that the main curse is not of Venus whereas Vistiji was of the opinion that this was the main curse. May I know what are the reasons for difference in perception? [Via NK] I have gone back to read Visti’s e-mail more carefully and also looked at the chart again. I am in agreement with him. I have overlooked that Shukracharya (Venus) is indeed the Lagnesh AND the Chara AtmaKaraka which is afflicted by the krura grahas. 3. Venus' age has been mentioned in pairs of 2 numbers (6 25; 26 6). As regards 52 I am currently runnin the 52nd year and do not feel particularly cursed. In fact things are moving towards a more peaceful life, in some ways I think. [Via NK] This is good. Please keep the mantra, though, which has been imparted to you. Anything troublesome with relationships around 25? 4. Shocks during Rahu Moola dasha - again I don't remember anything major. [Via NK] Ok – all the better. The Shastyamsa may need some rectification. I have given the detailed feedback so as to improve my own understanding of the placement of planets in my chart. In a way astrology has helped me. Ever since I read in Rathji's article that those with Venus as Atmakaraka have to be particularly careful about leading a "pure" life, I have become very much on guard. If there is any past life karma / curse I don't want it to be repeated in this life. Maybe these are only my conjectures since my knowledge of astrology is so limited.
