Hi Tanvir and everyone,

I am new to this list - I teach Western Astrology on the net and am

just beginning to learn Vedic Astrology also - I believe that there

is something to be gained from all methods of Astrology and it was

such a relief to read this sentence on the Home Page of this site -

"Here the respect and freedom of thoughts live". These are my

sentiments exactly.

Warmest Regards to Everyone.

Shamira

By the way - the List in which I teach Western Astrology is called

Astrology-Absolute Beginners - there are lessons in the Files

Section - if anyone has any queries, just email me - privately if you

wish - take care, Shamira

hi all,

let me share one fact about western astrology, the word horoscope - is

derived from horo + scope i.e. hora + scope ... scope we all know..

and the horo word is a sanskrit world (aaho + raa ) means = day and

night. so all horo scopic science drived from single source

but no doubt all cultures done valueable addition to this artistic

science, and that western developed their uniquess, what we called

today western astrology

Wow, good! I did not know about this!!

then it means that the English word 'Horo' came from the word 'Hora' which is

'Aho'+'Ratra' which means Day and night respectively. Thus Hora means 'Day and

night' = 'Time'! Thus Hora Shastra means 'The science of time'.

Best wishes,

Tanvir

Dear

Tarun,

Namaste

Actually

the terminology in western aspects like square, trines, sextile, semi-sextile, quincunx

etc., are all varying degrees in aspects.

If you

care to read the basics in the Classics in Vedic astrology, they are all there.

In order to understand astrology, one needs to understand the philosophy in

each of the literature presented in the Vedas. A life time feat, I agree.

Nebulous aspects

to Neptune, Pluto, Uranus etc., are excluded because these planetary bodies are

outside the realms of human astrology as they are on the loka loka mountains. If

I recall correctly, it takes 249 years for Pluto’s traversal and that

too, we never know how many years it remains in one sign. As it affects several

generations at any one time, the Maharishis were no fools when it came to

teaching us Cosmology and related subjects. Let’s take Uranus which acts

like Rahu. Because western astrology does not understand the Nodes, the

alternative was to take Uranus. But if you go into the philosophy from Srimad

Bhagavatam with regards to those nodes, a much clearer picture is presented

there.

As a bullion

trader, the nodes are important including Moon, Sun and the aspect of Mars is

paramount.

Many of us

here were western astrologers before. There were too many questions of my past

life left unanswered and the switch over has been God send.

The best

chapters in “Vedic” astrology is from Narada Purana. The literature

on planetary vedha caused in Transits is quite extensive, so you might want to

reconsider.

Swee

I agree that the Uranus, Neptune and Pluto dont play much important role in

human astrology, but if u remember that Last week Mars and Jupiter were

exactly 180 degree opposite to each other and that day Conferance on Iran took

place (by chance) and the next day when the statement came that meeting will be

held on 2nd feb. Actually what is see that there was a " T" formation in between

Mars , Guru and Neptune. And exactly as Mars came in same degree, minutes to

neptune the statement following the thing abt Russia and other factors came in

media. Since mars and Jupiter opposition creates Geo-political Tensions,if u

again search the past the same planetry configuration took place in june 1947,

and at that time, i read in history that the division of India and pakistan was

decided.

Oppositon of any planet realted to Jupiter creates the tensions realted to the

nature of aspecting planet for example currently mars was oppostite to jupiter

so Fight/Mars nature was involved but if saturn was involved there then the

tensions related to Strikes were to be highligted.

In the end choose whatever you are comfortable with. I too studied Western

Astrology earlier and even though its approach is sensible, I found the

connection missing and lots of things were left unexplained. Like why does the

Sun have the character, it is potrayed to have. In hindu astrology, we can

understand the same and derive its meaning. Vedas are of immense help in the

same. Again, use whatever you are comfortable with. Thanks and RegardsBharatOn
