The two eclipses: Lunar and Solar are spent worshipping the deity of the particular eclipsed planet. I.e. for a Lunar eclipse which is the eclipse of the Moon; Hari, Vishnu or Devi is worshipped during the time of the lunar eclipse. Similarly during the solar eclipse which is the eclipse of the Sun; Surya and Shiva are worshipped. These times are very potent to worship the particular devatas to get their grace and develope siddhis. Especially the ‘ugra’ or martian pujas are preferred during this time. I.e. for Vishnu it is Narasimha whilst for Devi it is Bagalamukhi. Similarly for Shiva it is Dakshinamurty or Maharudra. In another group, one mr bojan has suggested that sri Sanjay rath has given the detailed effects of eclipse on each sign in an article in Jyotish digest.
