There are several problems related to marriage in this chart of your friend. I will list them below: 1. Vivaha-karaka Shukra is in maranakarakasthana and Mars is also in maranakarakasthana. 2. There is a parivartana between Venus and Shani (which is good as Shani is the karaka of the 6th house) 3. There is a strong Brahmin Shaapa in the 10th house: exalted Rahu conjoins retrograde Guru(7th lord) with Mars aspecting with 4th drishti. Rahu is Atmakraka and Mars is 8th lord. Hence the shaapa is strong and will cause suffering. Being in the 10th house, it shows that the native's intentions (in previous birth) was good and the end result of this birth's suffering will cause better results. There are additional curses on Shukra (kaalatra-shaapa) and Chandrama (matri-shaapa) as Chandra and Shukra are aspected by Rahu and conjoined by Darakaraka Surya who is in debility in the navamsa. Hence Rahu becomes very important in all these three curses. Moreover it is exalted and conjoins A7 in the 2nd house from UL showing that is marriage is to take place, it will break due to scandals involved in relationships. If the Navamsa lagna is Kanya as well, then Rahu in the 2nd house in sign of Shukra with debilitated Surya will break-marrige due to external relationships. But we should check the navamsa Lagna for that. 4. I strongly suggest the following: Fasting from Sunrise to Sunset on Fridays (this is a must for all delays in marraige, especially if a malefic sits in the UL); lighting a lamp on Wednesdays at Rahu-kalam for Mother Durga; and worship of Siva (as Saturn is the karaka as well as dispositor of Shukra) 5. Additionally, because there is aalready a strong possibility of breakage of 1st marriage, I suggest kumbha-vivaha before the actual marriage. If kumbhavivaha is performed, the succeeding UL becomes 8th from the present UL, i.e. 4th house with exalted Ketu giving a very spiritual spouse. 2nd to this new UL will be Budha, a generally benefic graha. However, again, 7th from the new UL will have the Guru-chandala dosha and so worshipping Mother Durga on Wednesday's at Rahukalam will mitigate that. 6. Marriage can happen to a person who is closer to home. Marriage may be brought about by mother or brother. 7. Budha is the lord of the 12-th from karakaamsa and conjoins Chandrama and Mangal in the 5th from karakaamsa. Shukra is debilitated in Rasi and Navamsa (giving the negative version of vargottama). Especially Shukra is in 7th house in Rasi Chakra and 9th house in Navamsa Chakra. 2. UL is lorded by Shukra in debility in the 12-th from it. 3. UL is in the 8th from Lagna showing that the person doesn't want to marry. 4. 7th lord of Rasi Chart is Budha conjoined with 6th lord of Rasi chart. 6th house is house of celibacy. 5. Incidentally, there is a curse of relatives or uncles. Budha retrograde is in conjunction with Surya and is aspected by Shani retrograde. So curse is strong. AK is 8th lord and is disposited by Budha in both Rasi and Navamsa. Because Budha is in 9th house, the curse can fructify in the marriagable age. Shani lords the 11th house of friendship which also contains A7 aspected by Mars and debilitated Rahu. I am wondering if there was any relationship which resulted in sorrow for this person. 6. Because Chandrama is there in the 7th from AK Shukra in Navamsa, there will be marriage for certain. 7. As 10th lord Guru is in 10th house, we can use Chaturaseethi Sama Dasa. Chandra-Shukra period could bring marriage as Chandra is 5th lord in Lagna and is vargottama. Moreover, Chandra helps debilitated Shukra and Chandra is also a secondary karaka of Marriage. Chandra also has paksha bala and is 7th lord in the Navamsa chart. Mother or a motherly person can bring about marriage. 8. Particularly marraige will likely occur in the first two months of 2008. 9. She must fast on Fridays from Sunrise to sunset and worship and worship Divine Mother (especially in form of Tripura Sundari indicated by Budha). 10. Her ishtadevata is indicated by either Guru or Shani of which, Guru is in mitra-sthana (Simha rasi). Guru represents Vamana avatara. The gati mantra is || Klim Vaamanaaya Namah || and Japa Mantra is || Om Namo Bhagavatey Trivikramaaya || of which I suggest the latter. This list is meant for learning jyotish through open discussions not only for students who are participating now, but also for future students who can come back and dig through old e-mails. If someone has a question or a chart for open discussion, he/she puts it out in the open, some members discuss it and Guru's give us guidence about what went wrong with our analysis. If someone doesn't want to discuss in the open, one can write in private, but that way learning process is hampered and there is no way the guru's can follow and give correct suggestions. Lastly, this is not a free consultancy service but a forum for learning and exercising knowledge in all aspects of life. Hope this is clear and hope that we don't get further innuendo's like "jagannath group cannot keep their mails private". Thanks for the correction and apologies if this caused in inconvenience the the native. With this chart, the UL lord Shukra is under the kaalaatra-shaapa. The lagna lord is Budha in the 10th house (love affairs) with vivaha-amsa and debilitated in the Navamsa 7th house showing broken love affairs. Vargottama Rahu is 2nd from UL so I suggest Kumbhavivaha as new-UL is in Dhanus rasi with Shukra and Guru in parivartana and Budha in the 2nd from it. However, there is Shani-Budha parivartana that is also a cause of concern. But ketu and Shukra vagottama will not let the marriage go.
