Dear Kishore Ji, and List members, Namaskaar.

Allow me to share some of my understanding and ask you for something further…? I

have not followed the entire thread of postings, but I would like to know more

on something you wrote.

I understand that there are some soumya grahas as well as some krura grahas.

These have been translated in English as benefic and malefic.

1) How is Shukra (Venus), the rejuvenator considered a Krura graha?

BPHS English Translation:

[sanskrit recommended]

Ch. 3. Grah Characters and Description

10. Names of Grahas. The names of the nine Grahas, respectively, are Sūrya,

Candr, Mangal, Budh, Guru, Śukr, Śani, Rahu and Ketu.

11. Benefics and Malefics. Among these, Sūrya, Śani, Mangal,

decreasing Candr, Rahu and Ketu (the ascending and the descending nodes of

Candr) are malefics, while the rest are benefics. Budh, however, is a malefic,

if he joins a malefic.

2) How can the lagnesh (lord of lagna) be “malefic” to the native?

Regards,

Nitin.

ear friend,

I am yet to cast and read the charts provided by you. But let me tell

two general points with regard to the suicides:

The first one is to do with the natal chart of the native. Generally,

the Lagna Lord will be a malefic for the native. This happens to

tarus and the four 'corner' lagnas. Also, the Moon must be severely

afflicted. If moon is severly afflicted, it can also indicate a

possibility of Balarishta, though in Balarishta, the connection of

Mars with certain Houses is compulsory. In other words, the Moons

position will be alike in both Balarishta and suicide cases.

The second point is to do with the transits. The Tr Lagna lord should

be cruelly aspecting himself in the natal chart. Sometimes, this

position can be taken by AK but then, AK should be AK for the transit

chart also.

Hope this helps,

Kishore patnaik

dear friend,

this is a very basic question. However, i will reply it since you

mentioned my name specifically.

The nine planets are divided into natural malefics and natural

benefics. Venus, vriddhi Moon, a well associated Mercury and Jupiter

are natural benefics. However, a natural benefic owning a kendra (ie

H1,H4, H7 or H10) will become a malefic. The maleficience is not lost

unless the planet occupies a Kendra in the horoscope.

Now,when the natural benefic owns the first house, whehter that can be

counted as a malefic or not depends on the other house owned by the

planet. while there are quite a number of opinions in this, the thumb

rule is he is a malefic, if the other house is bad and a benefic, if

the other house is good.

Hope this clarifies.
