Guest guest
Jaya Ganesha; Namaste, Dear esteemed Astrologers; I just got back to checking explanations of AL and UL, and Upa Pada now I am more confused. Tanvir stated: "UL is not pada of ascendant" = entity of Vyaya Bhava (12th House) How to calculate UL? Based on what elements of the RASI Chakra? Then these are similarly calculated as harmonics to find products in the various divisional charts? AL is what? Arudha Lagna? Language may be the problem. Such if Anyone could just post the means of calculation for AL, UL, and Upa Pada in the RASI this would simplify matters for this mathematician. The the word Pada = Arudha Tanvir says: "Are the same." Then, Upa is what? Which qualifies UL? Upa Pada is what to Arudha? I am 10,000 miles away from my books, and the algorithms not obvious from software. The words just go round and round nowhere. The formulas to calculate would show definative relationships of chart elements clearly explaining matters UL, AL, and Upa Pada. For Me! Anyone please post the means to calculate most appreciated. Guest guest
Namaste ~ a 'pada' or 'arudha' is something that is derived from the distance between a house and its lord's distance. take a sign. count how many signs it's lord is away from it. count as many signs from the lord itself. the sign reached by this will be the pada/arudha of the first sign. example. we will have to see the pada of capricorn. so, see where saturn is in the chart. say, he is in taurus. count capricorn to taurus = 5. then count 5 from taurus = virgo. virgo will be the pada or arudha of capricorn. now if capricorn is asc, / lagna, then virgo will be the arudha of lagna / arudha lagna / pada lagna etc etc. all the houses will have pada in same way. upa pada is the pada of the 12th house which is v imp to judge marital matters and stuff. there are some confusions regarding the calculations of the pada. bec, parasara says that the house itself / 7th house from it can not be the pada of itself. some do not obey this rule. so, if the lord goes to the 4th house, they simply take this the 7th house as the pada, though parasara forbids this. if the 7th house becomes the pada, then he advises to take 4th, if the asc irself becomes the pada, he advices to take 10th. jaimini seems to say the same but there are some subtle differences - which i am currently working on. [actually this is the base of chara dasa - a great dasa system which fascinates me right now.] u can download jaimini sutras or bphs from the files section of this list to read more on them. PS. yes, AL=arudha lagna, UL=upa pada lagna etc... in short :-) regards tanvir What can not happen, can never happen.Which is mine, is forever mine.
