Dear Tanvir,

Wonderful and enlightening words! Many thanks for sharing these thought!

Dear Souvik Jee,

In my humble opinion,

1. A person who knows astrology,

2. A person who practises astrology as profession, and

3. A person who is spiritual

are all different matters. And in my opinion these all will be indicated by different facts.

The houses for spirituality are 8th and 12th and planets are saturn and ketu. So

"these planets" in "these houses" can give spirituality. Say, Ketu in 8th or

Saturn in 8th or 12th and so on. Since lagna is the personality, Ketu or Saturn

in lagna can also give spirituality. However if it is Saturn in lagna then it is

better to have it aspected by Ketu or Jupiter... esp Ju to make it "Satwic" /

positive [spirituality] than simply being cruel and mean [saturns negative

sides].

An astrologer might not be necessarily a very spiritual person. Say, Vedic

Astrology is related to religion and spirituality by nature, but western

astrology is not. In western astrology any prediction is a mere possibility

what we can change easily any time. That is far away from the original concept

of karma so nothing to be piritual there. That is why sometimes, the word

'Astrology' sounds so cheap to me since it tends to be 'western' and so

'Jyotish' or 'Vedic Astrology' seem to be the proper words for this Sastra.

On the other hand a spiritual person might not know astrology. In my view the

realization of karma, rebirth and people's debt to karmic chain, ie the

inability to change karma and realization of surrendering to the nature of

karma and the ultimate lord is spirituality. That is given by Ketu and Saturn

most of the times.

I have a female cousin who does not know astrology nor is so much religious but

the views she owns about life, religion, re-birth, destiny etc proves that she

i very spiritual. She is also a muslim like me and does not know much about

Hinduism but she believes in re-birth because her "intuition" says so. She has

Ketu in asc., by the way.

On the other hand a religious person might not be spiritual. Religious means

following the religion in strioct manner. [whatever religion, ie islam /

hinduism / buddhism / christianity etc.] Religion is the faith and consists of

worshipping, good behaviour, not doing bad things etc etc., but spirituality is

something with a deep 'core' and religiousness is kind of 'mild' to it. A man

might be religious by following his religion but he can not be spiritual unless

the 'realization' comes into his mind. Spirituality also consists of intuition,

sixth sense, super natural powers etc to some degree.

So it is all different. Spirituality is the 8th house and religion is the 9th.

Now why spirituality is the loss (12) of religion [sometimes] ? Because

sometimes spirituality [8th] can lead to black magic and tantrism if influenced

negatively, and so destroys dharma [9th]. Also 12th house is also a house of

spirituality, and so 12th to 9th is the 'second level' of consciousness and

spirituality.

On the other hand an astrologer might not have religiousness or spirituality,

because he might even be a cheater who cheats people to earn money. Merc makes

a man take astrology as a profession. Some say that the houses for astrology

are 5th and 2nd. I am not sure.

However a 'real' astrologer will definitely have good 8th and 9th houses because

he will be spiritual [8th] ie good realization of karma and rebirth etc., and he

will have to have the capability of healing people in satvic way that is the

9th. Anyway Ju can also denote the capacity of healing people in satvic way.

Say a strong Ju influencing 12th etc.

Though I knew some basic of astrology from childhoon, the real starting of my

Jyotisha was from 2001 when I started the Ad of Mars, who is the 8th lord of

spirituality, exalted in 5th house [knowledge]. So it happened in a spiritual

way, and since my 8th lord is giving me jyotish knowledge, it is giving me in a

spiritual way, ie remedies, mantras etc... [mantra is also from 5th house and

mars is in 5th house and in mars AD i first started mantras.]

Also the mars AD gave me the realization that we own no free will and are bound

in the chain of karmas to full fill the set of lessons and living a controlled,

pre planned life at the finger indication of the Lord. It changed my life a lot

and it gives a total different feeling of surrenderness to the Lord and gives

the realization that i AM a part of the nature and playing some pre planned,

important ROLES in the lives of people around me. That IS one of the imp

purposes of my birth.

So I think merc has to do with taking astrology as a profession but mercury can

not give spirituality [unless the 8th/12th lord etc]. Ke gives spirituality but

spirituality does not confirm being an astrologer either.

Best wishes,

Tanvir

Mr. Tanvir Ji,

Thank you for this wonderful analysis. It helps me understand why,

maybe I am unable to put a chart together and come to a full

interpretation. Also, it is discouraging for me as i have many

planets in my 8th house and many text that I have read do not have

anything promising about the 8th house. I have saturn in my lagan

(gemini)with jupiter aspects lagan from my 9th house. Further,

mercury is in my 8th exchanging signs with saturn in my lagan. Also,

moon and ketu are in my 12th house. Though moon is exalted i presume

the energy is sucked by the presence of ketu. I have been told that I

have a very spiritual chart, except I always wondered why. Your

explaination was very good in helping me understand.

Thanks again for your wonderful insight.

Hi Shalu jee,

You can call me only Tanvir if you like.

Many planets in 8th house gives spiritual understanding and knowledge on such

topics, however it gives a lot of grief in life. It might also gives loneliness

and being cheated from people esp near ones. Because a planet in a house

influences it's affairs as per the rulership and basic nature of the planet,

and since many planets are there, some negatives sides of the house will be

enhanced.

You might sometimes have very very significant dreams which are indications of

true future events or something like, "God tells me about the future by my

dreams" etc. Journeys, foreign residence and foreign materials / informations

will greatly enrich your spirituality however your mind will be disturbed to

some degree if the moon is close to Ketu.

Thanks for the kind words.

Mr. Tanvir

Please no ji, i am already going through an age denial, ji is going

to make me feel ancient.

I live in an extended family, and family has pretty much dominated my

life. So , i was not able to really have a social life. I am still

pretty much this way. So I cannot say I have ever felt lonliness, but

there are times when I wish I had more of a social life. My mind has

been disturbed only recently(since 200), maybe because I am going

through a Sade sati, and also the tail end of my rahu dasha. It is

true before having my mind disturbed I did have vivid dreams of

events that later came true (from 1996), and I really relied on this

gut instinct or intuition. However, I have not been having these

dreams for the last 3 yrs. I think it is because i need to go through

this uncertainity phase in my life. Hopefully things will be getting

better as I am now seven months into my jupiter dasha.

All the same I really appreciate the insight you and others have been

giving me.

Thanks

Shalu
