Hi Souvik,

 

As far as my limited knowledge goes Hanumanji was an

incarnation of lord shiv. He was born to the Mata

Anjani and king kesari (by blssing of lord shiv and

pawan dev - lord of winds).

 

The secret of his power lies in the story that in his

early child hood he swalloed the whole sun considering

it to be fruit and lord indra struck his with his

vagra. Angry by this pawan dev took his injured son to

a cave and stopped functioning. All the god then asked

pawan dev to come out and resume his normal duties in

return he was blessed by all of the lord with special

gifts and powers. Later he became the student of lost

sun.

 

Hanumanji day is tuesday but he is also worshiped on

saturday because sani dev was once rescued by

hanumanji. And sanidev blesed him that he would not

trouble his devotes.
