Guest guest
In this chart I just rectified, the unrectified chart had a Mercury DK and 1st Lord Gandanta in 0 deg. 39 min. of Mesh, 8th from a Virgo Asc. That Mercury was truly wierd, and it just sat there staring at me, as if it had one foot in a dimension that we do not allow to happen on this planet. The rectified chart, which was rectified on the basis of events in the jataka's life, had a truly beautiful 2nd-house Moon DK in Chitra, but the chart ruler remains Gandanta in Ashwini. At the time when I was working on this chart, I didn't consciously know why this Mercury was so wierd, but then I woke up this morning, and it came to me: Gandanta degree. This happens to me a lot. So I thought I'd share it with you, because it's so easy to forget about. What makes the cusps of the fire signs (Mesh, Simha, and Sagittarius) so wierd (Gandanta)? It's that this is where the three Nakshatra cycles begin and end. At these three points only, the Nakshatra boundary corresponds to the sign boundary. It's vibrational no man's land. There is no sthana in which the planet can abide, and so it becomes unstable. Now instability isn't necessarily bad, it just depends on what else is happening in the chart. In this particular chart, rectified, (which has a Gandanta ruler) a very stable spouse is indicated, and the native is a highly tranformative individual, with an exalted Mars- Rahu in the 5th, an exalted Venus (AK) in the 7th, and an exalted Sun in the 8th. This individual appears to have taken birth in one of the more stodgy and stultified Hindu families that I've ever encountered, and in my opinion, he is pretty much destined to tear this family apart, and to reconfigure it into something that works in the modern era. I'm interested in other opinions about this, if there are any. Blessed Be Dharmananda
