Meditation has its own power but one has to give up all the worldly desires, attachments, jealousy, aversion etc. You can never be 'one with God'( as you said...and I agree) without giving these up. Again the word 'help'is wrong to use... but I meant real satisfaction by serving. Serving others selflessly can make you one with God. I think if you hurt another humanbeing and meditate to reach God...it makes no sense but it's more meaningful to understand people's feelings, not hurt them rather than meditating.
