Dear Surya:

Very nice experiences :-).

The inner kingdom of the Self is the same for everybody. Inside,

there are different colored lights. They are brilliant and the same

for everybody. If we meditate systematically, then we will see them.

The inner Self contains infinite light. It is only because its light

exists that there is radiance in a human being, that we feel

interest in others.

The experience of all realized beings are the same. However each one

of them describes their experiences in thier own way. Jagadguru

Shankaracharya said " The Shaivites call him Shiva. The Vedantins

call him Brahman. People who follow the path of devotion see Him as

the object of devotion. people who follow rituals believe that He is

the giver of the fruits of their rituals So everybody describes the

same One in many different ways. Nonetheless, He is only one

throughout all the three worlds, and it is He who manipulates

everything". Every person experiences the same state, the same God.

He dwells within all equally. He is all-pervasive. So everybody has

the same experience of Him.

The Lord himself said to Arjuna, "O Arjuna, understand that only He

has the vision to see Me who becomes aware that the creation,

sustenance and dissolution of this entire universe takes place

within Me".

The lila of Krishna, the dear enchanter, the sweet lover is just

this:

We lost ourselves completely;

We knew not who we were.

Radha was so devoted to Krishna that she thought of nothing else.

Finally she became so immersed in Krishna and began to ask her

friends , "Where is Radha?". She had lost herself completely in

love. In the same way, we must lose ourself in the Self. When we

become One with the inner love, that love will saturate the entire

being and we ourselves will become the embodiment of Love.

Om Shanti Shanti Shanti.

Dear Surya,

> Incidentally one of the meaning of Krishna is

> attraction ... he attracts you to himself

> automatically should you care to look at him once!!

For quite some time, when very young, I was believed to be very "dumb".

Doctors thought that I was an autistic child. To the point that my caring

parents brought me one day to see a neurologist :o)

I remember, amongst so many experiences, the pleasure I had to walk in the

woods (specially in autumn when the ground was cover with leaves of a

beautiful bright golden yellow color). But after sometimes my walking was

getting slower and slower till I could'nt walk anymore and had to stop and

stay there, ecstatic, merged in Pure Being, lost to the world. Yes you can

speak about Krishna's power of attraction :o) You just can't resist when you

feel His calling... He is the Ocean that extinguish and satisfy the greatest

thirst...

The poverty of relative life is that it cannot express the absolute. So the

intellect is using the "point of views" to express many facets of the

Inexpressible... they can be every so often completely opposite and still

aspects of the same Truth.

By example some upanishads said that the world is born out of "fear", others

said that it is born out of the rapture of love. Both are perfectly true!!!

Different point of views to feed our poor limited intellect.

When we speak about Shani we have a feeling of austerity. So we think that

the inward flow of the mind toward Pure Consciousness (Dhyan or Deep

Meditation) should be austere, without much notion of joy or pleasantness...

and in a way this is right as we can use to describe some aspect of

meditation in terms of ... "One should sit in meditation prepared to lose

everything. When consciousness of outside objects begins to be lost, one

should not begin to mourn its loss. We do not analyze, we do not expect

anything, one should be innocent as a child. When one starts meditation, one

should not try to hang on to anything. With a free mind one should be dead

to the world"...

Those words are a perfect description of what some aspects of Shani are, or

the inward flow leading to Turiya Chetana. But when one practice or

experience Dhyan (the experience of the mind flowing towards the Bliss of

Pure Consciousness) the description is felt very differently... And, as you

said Surya, we can describe this experience in term of "attraction",

irresistible attraction! But I will add one more delightful aspect expressed

by the fascinating music of Gopal's Divine Flute... and that is "Increasing

Charm".

As you get nearer to the experience of Pure Consciousness, the charm of the

experience deepen and your desire grows more and more to be One with the

Lord... this is a Natural process... you can't escape :o)

When one feels the attraction, the irresistible call of Gopal's Flute, we

are lost to the world because NOTHING in the world is bringing to the mind a

comparable pleasure, such a delightful ecstasy... Even the sweet binding

influence of maternal love was not enough to stop Gopis to answer the call

of the Absolute Bliss of the Lord...

So this is the reality of Shani seen from a relative standpoint (austerity,

detachment from the binding influence of the world, etc...) and the reality

of Shani seen from the inner experience of divine attraction (increasing

charm, ecstasy and bliss of Pure Consciousness). They are both the same

aspect seen under opposite facets.

But we should not forget that Jyotish is the Science of "the best of

Lights"... the Light of Pure Consciousness and then, that Jyotish should

always been analysed under a "vedantic" angle as Vedanta is the Science of

the Soul... The prerequisite for a Jyotishi is to develop the experience of

Pure Consciousness in his own life. So there is malefics and benefics

Grahas, Benefic and Malific Bhavas etc..., but foremost there is Bliss and

Bliss and Bliss at the core of all This :o)

Very Best Regards

Jean

Jean,

I read and re read this mail ... I can synch with what

you have written ... and it all sits so beautifully

into the scheme of things ...

Indian Literature has given us so many reasons to

learn this simple truth that everything is actually

the same aspect of two seemingly opposite facets ..

There is Saraswathi the godess of purity, in her

resplindent whites ... then there is her own form, the

Dark Matangi who is an outcaste in feeding on the

leftovers ... both representing the same aspect of

transcendental reality that must be reached through

two different modes of consciousness .. one through

purity same and one through a mode of what is

generally treated as outcaste in normal society ...

The key being calling Matangi the "Ucchista chandali"

... ucchista standing for leftovers ... which in a

spiritual sense also means the leftover after casting

off all that is not pure !!

Thanks for this beautiful mail ... it's so simple to

love everything else when you start loving god !!!
