Guest guest
NEW DELHI: In a development that has left political circles stunned, Congress president Sonia Gandhi Tuesday declined to become prime minister of India saying that she did not want the issue of her foreign origin to divide the nation. Gandhi, who is being persuaded by senior leaders of her party and the victorious multiparty United Progressive Alliance (UPA) to change her mind, has apparently suggested Manmohan Singh or Pranab Mukherjee, both senior leaders of her party, for the job. Both have served as finance ministers under different prime ministers. Mukherjee has also been foreign minister in the government of prime minister P.V. Narasimha Rao. The Italy-born Gandhi said her aim was to lead the party to victory in the national election and not to aspire for the post of prime minister. Gandhi, along with Singh, met President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam shortly after noon and apparently conveyed her decision to him. Her allies were subsequently informed. She, however, did not break the news to the army of assembled journalists outside Rashtrapati Bhavan, the presidential palace, and instead told them that the president had called them Wednesday for further discussions on the formation of a new government after the elections. Senior Congress leaders immediately went into a huddle Tuesday afternoon and many sounded dispirited over the course of events. Many others, when contacted, were not aware of the developments that were taking place behind closed doors and in the presence of only very senior leaders and her confidants. Others preferred to wait and watch, hoping against hope that the person who had led the party and alliance to a stunning victory in the elections would still change her mind. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had threatened to boycott her oath-taking ceremony and had said the assumption of a foreign-born woman to the job of prime minister would be a blow to national honour and self-esteem. 2003 siliconindia, Inc. Guest guest
I think that such rapidly flowing events can not be seen from a horoscope. One can see the end results or overall results or longterm results. I am still wondering how these political astro forecasts are made.
