Guest guest
Have members here tried conferencing here? When I used to be a section leader on compuserve, conferences used to be a magnificient way of focusing our energies and learning things in a more direct, fluid way than message boards provide. I realize that with people logging in from all corners of the globe and the rather limited software facilities provided by -- this can prove to be a nightmare more than a sweet dream! This is one big hopping place with a lot of good energies and I feel that trying out a conference or two from time to time might be an interesting thing. If others feel likewise, we can give it a try. Tanveer would have to do his magic and activate the chat function for starters. Then we will have to figure out a time when it might be suitable for most to attend, despite the different time zones we live in. Obviously, weekends would be the best time to do this and it does not have to be weekly even! I realize that in some placed in the world, internet is not as easy as pie and sadly we will have to learn to miss those friends, but there are quite a few individuals in NA and EU who might be able to join this. Expectations for at least the initial sessions would have to be tailored! We cannot expect maximum learning efficiency from the get- go. Maybe we should go into this in the right spirit and just decide on a meet your astro-buddy type of gathering, before we get serious and begin to turn on the heavy serious astro-academic-conferences from which you will be able to walk away with a halo shining on your head and your children finally turning off the TV and watching you instead! And, don't forget the savings in energy! Your neighbours can use your halo instead of the halogen lighting! This may be less silly than you weary souls think it is, at first crack! Let's do it!
