Guest guest
Mangalik! I have always wondered why the evil malefic planet mars has been called Mangal graha in jyotish! Mangal means one who represents well-being, good, beneficience. I don't buy what an otherwise fine jyotishi once mentioned: this is to placate the evil mars, to basically show subservience to someone who is overbearing and evil like Mars. I don't buy that! Does anyone have an opinion on that? Guest guest
Dear RR, Does "Suffering ennobles character" strike a chord I Think Mars can lead to betterment in the overall picture as long as "Pain breeds vengence" donsent hold .... Ditto for other malefic brands?? --- rohiniranjan <rrgb wrote: > Mangalik! I have always wondered why the evil > malefic planet mars > has been called Mangal graha in jyotish! Guest guest
Hello Everyone, Some points to be noted on Mangal. Whenever there is a Shubha work going on it is always said, Mangal Karya is in progress. Women wear Mangalsutra after Marriage. Often elders do give blessings by saying Mangalmayee Ho. It does seems to be a planet who`s meaning is involved with good significators above. Although deemed to be with lots of courage, it should not be categorized as causing mental trauma. Perhaps the hidden meaning is to make us get up and face the situation with courage and strength be it that of marriage or anything else. Guest guest
Q)I am not too sure that Mangal in sanskrit is related to Mangal as we call Mars?..... In Vedic astrology Mars is known as Mangal, Angaraka and Kuja. These names in Sanskrit mean, "auspicious," burning coal," and the fair one," respectively.Mars is often depicted as a god with a red body exemplifying the natural color of the astronomical body in the sky Sarva, the archer, represents the element of Earth as the supporter of life. Sarva's wife Vikesi, the disheveled, is the Earth goddess. The Puranic literature of ancient India declares that Angaraka is their son born of the Earth. Mars is further identified with the Kartikeya, the god of war. He is the son of the god Shiva, who was born without Shiva's union with a woman. Kartikeya was born with six heads as the six goddesses of the lunar constellation, Kritika, or the Pleiades, nurtured him. Kartikeya kills the seemingly invincible demon Taraka, and releases the Devas from Taraka's oppression. They depict valor, strength and courage, and most fittingly, the protective quality of Mars. Thus, Mars is known as the protector of dharma, the sacred path and purpose in life that each of us follows. Guest guest
Maybe we should call it Bhowmick rather than Mangalick -- but that will make it bangali!
