Guest guest
OK, let's get back to astrology. Anil and RR, I value both your contributions, please continue to post your thoughts. As to Mr./Ms yakshi_yakshi, how about posting more of your views/experience/expertise re. astrology rather than re. the astrologers? Someone (Manoshi?) posted a question earlier in this thread re. vargottama in just the navamsa or in hte other divisional charts too. From what I've read, the concept exists in all the divisional charts. However, if someone says "vargottama planet/lagna" without further qualifying which divisional chart it is vargottama in, then by default it is assumed to be the navamsa. Also, from what I've read, it "intensifies" the effect, whether positive or negative. Note that I have no practical experience here :-), I'm just quoting the texts. I do have vargottama lagna in my chart, however I haven't seen any of the great benefits that this promises :-). As in everything else in astrology, it is the sum total of all the factors that matters. Just my humble opinions as always. -S , "yakshi_yakshi" <yakshi_yakshi> wrote: > > > Your language is arrogant , adhoc and arbitrary. Please take care. > > I agree. Point taken, will stick to listening from now on. But do note that attitude matters. Knowledge shared with a smile is anyday better than knowledge handed down with a smirk. Even when more is (supposedly) on offer via the latter channel. Y
Guest guest
If I were a student beginning out, I would probably focus on navamsha because that is what is mentioned in reference to 'vargottama' from the little reading that I have done of classics. This does not mean that other vargas (what else is there, even rashi is afterall a varga!) would not have the vargottama qualifier, but I would first make sure that it works in the navamsha-rashi varga pair. Ayanamsha being a monkey wrench, I would prefer to first focus on charts that have the planet well within the navamsha so that ayanamsha does not cause confounding influence. I have recently read somewhere (maybe here) that vargottamas are not very commonly found in charts. This is where I bring up my major beef. Astrology, particularly jyotish lacks a good database manager that can take standard chart files and allow one to do searches like these (pick out charts from a collection that have sun or mercury or whatever vargottama or even something more basic, such as: find me the charts that have mercury in leo rashi, leo navamsha ... ya di ya da ya da!). With brilliant programmers interested in jyotish, one would have thought this would have been a cinch in this emancipated age of computers and other kalki awataars. By focusing on a chart with one vargottama and then examining the dashas etc. one could progress. More charts of similar types would follow and layers of information will settle down and become knowledge. The problem today is not collections of charts, but a good software to query the databases. Particularly for jyotish. Astrodatabank and Jigsaw do a great job for western type queries. Sadly missing from the jyotish scene. Guest guest
Dear Yakshi_Yakshi ( Can you give us a small name to address you ! ) I agree with your views. Because I have knowledge I should not demean others, infact it becomes my duty to ensure that all those who are desirous of acquiring knowledge get it. And while doing that I should not comment on other's style of sharing the knowledge. So to conclude on this, knowledge shared humbly , with gratitude , dexterity is always preferred than with arrogance.
