Guest guest
Why do you keep coming back to Jyotish? Jyotish, let us face it is not exactly that fits in the daily routine of most of internet dwellers. Many of these are IT professionals, programmers, professionals, teachers, realists, practical people and a few dreamers and so on, also! Why do most of the individuals who cannot really justify astrology or jyotish in a court-room with any chance of winning a case, who don't really spend enough time on jyotish or really studying and researching it -- Why do they keep coming back to it? The free reading seekers; the brilliant but not really dedicated (as in time devoted to jyotish vs other things) individuals; the rest of the spectrum from the dark and shady to the brilliant but quiet! Who are you really and why are you still here (not just this website, of course!) and where do you see Jyotish in ten years and where would you be then, as a jyotish student/practitioner/afficianodo at that time? Guest guest
Great thread to start RR. Brefily speaking I got attracted to Jyotish a few yrs ago after I ran a $20 report and found the computer programs to be spitting out analysis which very right on the money about character analysis and to some extent, especially the predictions about the wicked wife (classical Mars & Rahu in the 7th) and timing of the separation (divorce word was not yet coined in ancient days). So a professional astrologer can do way better in this subjective science. However, To enumerate the reasons for coming back to Jyotish for me is because 1. I think I need a road map to help me navigate these waters. The last map shows the accident spot, unfortunately I got to co-relate it, only after the fact. 2. I feel I am doing a little bit of study as you suggested in Jyotish, by reading these posts. 3. I enjoy reading from the variety of people that post on this board. A very wide and rich spectrum of people (of those that are internet enabled). Many of them are like me, seeking astrological answers to whatever is plauging them, I draw parallels with me, as to how they are thinking feeling. I also enjoy those rare occaisonal posts from the peers like yourself, who are very articulate both in the subject matter and otherwise. "Where do you see Jyotish in the future" I feel that there is great truth to Jyotish, but we need to re-examine the Shastras which badly need revision because all sciences advance, but this one seems left way behind and it needs to address the following issues. a) The society and the world in general has changed dramatically since ancient times, and some of the text is getting obsolete. Readings about women in particular, has wide divergence because their lives have changed a lot in the recent times. b) The astrologers of ancient times were not as well equiped with computers, as we are today and their clientelle were mostly the rich and famous. This certainly puts a bias in to the analysis they came out with. c) We need to incoporate statistics into this science and point not only the basics like Manglik is almost 50% of the population and Sani is causing trouble 22 of the 30 yrs and Rahu in the 7th occurs to 1/12 of the population etc, but to enhance it further and see how the numbers are looking. d) To many imperfect Jyotish along the way that just kept on producing more interpretations and finally we are left feeling that the Jyotish not only is covering all the bases with all the combinations like Lagna, Chandra Lagna, Nakshatra, aspects, cancellations, not to mention the D2- D60 which pretty much covers all and makes stuff extremely indefinitve. All this needs sorting out. Soumit rohiniranjan <rrgb wrote: Why do you keep coming back to Jyotish?
