Most of the diamonds we have in market are yellow tinted. It should be of a size which is suitable to mount it on a ring so that its table is visible on the top and its lower portion touches the skin. For that at least 30 cents weight is required. It should not be in gold, but in platinum or silver only. If you are wearing such a diamond then there is no need for white pukhraj. Even then every 2 1/4 days must take off. It seems wearing of diamond rings for prolong period burns the skin and can cause ulcers. I'm not sure how true this is. I agree it should not be in nearly pure gold, white gold is acceptable and so is silver. Blue diamonds of good quality can be very very expensive. I have personally given diamonds to many of my clients and they have been wearing them since years. No one has reported any skin problems ever. In fact, one of these clients is a gold medallist skin specialist in Delhi. The skin disorders are more often caused by the impure metal used in the ring than the diamond itself. Diamond being the hardest gemstone, while normally 20 to 22 carat gold is used for other gems, 15 to 18 carat is used for diamonds (as most of the people wrongly wear it in gold). The low carat of gold used is the cause here. Some also have allergies to silver also. It seems wearing of diamond rings for prolong period burns the skin and can cause ulcers. I'm not sure how true this is. I agree it should not be in nearly pure gold, white gold is acceptable and so is silver. Blue diamonds of good quality can be very very expensive.
