Guest guest
Dear friends, Regarding the worship of idols at home - I have an interesting story. Some time back, I thought that I should possess a "fantastic" image of my favourite diety Narasimha, having the body of a child, with a butterball in one hand and playing with a toy bow and arrow. This way, it would capture the essence of Rama, Krishna, and Narasimha too! I was a little hesitant - is it right? Since I am highly devoted to Narasimha, I told Him to take the idea forward if it was right. Personally, I decided not to go ahead with the idea until I got some inputs from Him. A few months later, one of my dad's friends came to my house and told us about a good bronze sculptor called Shri MV Lakshmanan, who had won a Natonal Award for sculpture from Shri Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy, the then President of India, in 1981. I got Shri MV Lakshmanan to make this idol for me and it is my favourite idol. Since getting this idol, I have derives much satisfaction. Maybe, Narasimha, seeing my devotion to Him, felt that I should have the idol even though it is not exactly traditional! God only cares about devotion. A devoted person doing pooja to an idol in a non-traditional manner is to Him greater that a non-devoted person following traditions. ~~~~~~~ Balaji Narasimhan * http://www.sherlock-holmes.com/balaji.htm Author, Sherlock Holmes: Solutions from the Sussex Downs Editor, The Partial Art of Detection ~~~~~~~ Mail - PC Magazine Editors' Choice 2005
