Indeed, gochar nirnaya as it is called is the classical description seen where transits are considered from the moon. Although since sudarshan chakra is also discussed/described, it is implied that that should also reveal the movie of life as opposed to just using the snapshot (birth chart). To that your element of adding the dasha and antar lord also makes very good sense. In fact if I recall, VK Choudhury of the Systems Approach also recommended using the transit of the antara lord (pratyantar for north indian astrologers [south: Dasha, bhukthi, anthara; North: Dasa, antardasa, pratyantardasa]) which becomes a sensitive indicator. It is quite possible that this was mentioned by one of his students but definitely someone associated with the Systems Approach camp. Students (mine and others) often come with a puzzled look on their faces because they have so many options that it becomes overwhelming for them to take all of that into account. Additionally, we are being bombarded with even more dashas and ways of skinning the cat and the hurriedly put together software does not help either as it often has calculation errors so the serious student astrologer with limited time on hand is really at a loss. It is therefore crucial that individuals cooperate and carry out the exploration together just like time-slicing has helped medical research (screensavers stealing CPU time to carry out calculations during the 'down' time). I propose that someone start with one chart and take us through the steps of testing these approaches and then we move to the next one and so on. Unfortunately there is going to be some 'noise' as other relevant and irrelevant information will get thrown into the work but that is life. Even if this is done, I am certain that not all approaches and techniques will work all the time. This is a big mystery in astrology. This less than 100% performance of the methods. However, as I strongly believe in, this as well as remedials strongly indicates to me, at least, a strong case for there being the role of free-will in the final shaping of what we bring, what we work on and what we bring forth in life.
