Guest guest
Ashutosh, Can you please help me understand if gems can be presribed in the following situations: 1. If a planet is retrograde, can a gem still be prescribed? 2. If a planet is debilitated in rashi and / or navamsa? 3. Under what conditions, do you prescribe stones for Rahu and Ketu? Thanks DB

Guest guest
I read your response to DB, and thought of my own chart. For scorpio lagna, Mercury is the malefic planet (lord of 8th and 11th). I assume that you will not recommend Emerald for any Scorpio lagna person. However, in my case, Mercury is combust (within 3 deg of Sun) in 7th house, and I wear Emerald since 1991. I have seen that whenever I have taken out emerald, I have lost my job. And, when I wear it again, within few days I get a new job. As funny as it may sound but it works like a "off/on" switch. I am curious to know your thoughts. Guest guest
Thanks Ashutosh. If a planet is retrograde, it is considered powerful. Then why would you recommend a gemstone for it? The assumption I make here is that gem is recommended only if planet is weak and beneficial. If a planet is malefic, regardless of its strength, gems are not the recommended remedies. Guest guest
Dear DB, Instead of considering planets as powerful or weak, take them as malefic or benefic. It is just like a class of nine children where some are mischievious and disobedient while some are obedient and studious. If the teacher has to make one or two of them as monitors of class, would she choose the disobedient students or the obedient and intelligent students. Guest guest
Ashutosh, Do you prescribe gemstones for malefic planets or benefic planets. If we do not consider the strength of a planet (strong or weak), then, are you saying that the gemstones should be prescribed based on its nature (malefic or benefic)?
