dear friend

while performing abhishekam, recital of complete namakam-chamkam is best and

individual mantras are chanted separately by the native as japam or upasana.

in my personal view ladies cannot perform rudrabhisheakm to a shivling by

reciting namakam-chamakam. however, if others feel they can, i do not enter

into a debate.

for marriage, 9th anuvakam is suggested.

for loan recovery, 2nd anuvakam is suggested.

for general diseases and fear of loss of life, 1st anuvakam is suggested.

for epidemics and viral diseases prevalent across the country, 3rd anuvakam is

suggested.

for TB, Leprosy and Diabetis, 4th anuvakam is suggested.

for safe delivery, avoid abortion and for good healthy child, 5th and 6th

anuvakam are suggested.

for evil/ghost/spirt haunting and to protect from black magic, 11th anuvakam

is suggested.

similarly, each anuvakam is meant for various things.

rudrabhishekam with recital of namakam-chamkam would solve all problems in the

world and it is one simple powerful divine solution for all problems.

with best wishes

Dear Sh. Arjun Pandit,

Sorry to intrude.

It's very nice of you to have nararted the mahatyam of Rudrabhishek etc.

Can a person recite the selected hymns of Chamakam (for a particular

purpose) while offering water to shivalinga in a temple. Can it also do good

to a good extent ? Can it be done by girls or ladies also ?

Can you kindly elucidate, which hymn of Chamakam is recited for bringing

marriage, disposing disease and getting back loaned money.

Thanks

Hello Arjunji,

We generally attend the rudra-abhishekam every thirteenth(triodasi)

day. Basically we only do sankalpam at the temple as we are not

allowed inside sanctrum of the temple. Is this OK for remedial

purposes.

I know it is best if one performs the pooja in person. I have

medidated (listened) to rudram-chamkam regulary I know it is bit

difficult to pronounce. It requires some sanskrit knowledge.

Just a thought, Is there a easy method to pronounce and recite.

Regards,

Raghu.

dear friend raghu

in south india, devotees are not allowed inside the sanctum sanctorum of the

temple. however, in the north both men as well as women go inside the sanctum

sanctorum and touch the shivling and apply all kinds of goods they please to

offer with freedom. in some temples, a tap with a bucket and copper patra are

kept aside the shivlingam for easy abhishekam of the devotees.

giving sankalpam and then the poojari performing the abhishekam is fine for

remedial purpose. however, while he is performing, you can read the same from a

book.

the specific individual anuvakams for remedial purpose can be recited 108

times separately at your home also on a darbha (kusha) mat.

these days so many temples are organising free teaching classes in rudram, sri

suktam, purusha suktam, mantra pushpam etc. in the evening for interested. you

may enquire on the same.

you can chant "om namah shivaya" mantra round the clock in sitting, walking

and sleeping position and also while at work. this is one mantra which has no

restrictions and can be easily chanted by any gender and any time in any

condition.

with best wishes

while performing abhishekam, recital of complete namakam-chamkam is best and

individual mantras are chanted separately by the native as japam or upasana.

in my personal view ladies cannot perform rudrabhisheakm to a shivling by

reciting namakam-chamakam. however, if others feel they can, i do not enter

into a debate.

for marriage, 9th anuvakam is suggested.

for loan recovery, 2nd anuvakam is suggested.

for general diseases and fear of loss of life, 1st anuvakam is suggested.

for epidemics and viral diseases prevalent across the country, 3rd anuvakam is

suggested.

for TB, Leprosy and Diabetis, 4th anuvakam is suggested.

for safe delivery, avoid abortion and for good healthy child, 5th and 6th

anuvakam are suggested.

for evil/ghost/spirt haunting and to protect from black magic, 11th anuvakam

is suggested.

similarly, each anuvakam is meant for various things.

rudrabhishekam with recital of namakam-chamkam would solve all problems in the

world and it is one simple powerful divine solution for all problems.

with best wishes

Thanks

dear friend

the namakam and chamakam contains eleven slokas which can be read as

eleven mantras. these are also called in various sanskrit names

like anuvakam.

Dear friend,

sorry to interfere; but just a bit about anuvAka:

In R.gveda, the hymns are known as R.c and

in Yajurveda, they are known as anuvAka. The

major difference being that R.c are strictly bound by prosody

while anuvAka are in prose style.

The Rudraprashna is an extract from 3rd kAnDa of

Kr.ShN.a Yajurveda. It comprises of Namaka and Camaka

with a beautiful san^kalpa for the well being of all.

Namaka is the set of anuvAka(11) worshipping Rudra using 'Namah.'

while Camaka is the set of anuvAka(11) praising Rudra using 'Ca me'.

This lovely divine Camaka is said to be uttered by dakSha brahma

using his new GOAT HEAD joined to his body by Rudra. The recitation

indeed sounds like the one from goat's throat with 'me..

me..'endings.

yours humbly,

KAD

KAD

Revered list,

Thanks for all the inputs. It was very enlightening. I had been

listening to the Rudram, Chamakam etc, ever since I married into a

agnihotri family from Machilipatnam- 23 years ago it sort of keeps

going on. But it held no real meaning, it is only now i have been

able to truly appreciate the true significance, the beautiful

verses, their intonations. Arjunji, you have opined against women

performing the rudrabhishekam. Is it ok if Rudram chamakam

Laghunyasam are recited by women and at home?
