Now that you are married ,ther is no point of thinking bak of this issue at this point of time.It is good that you are following a spirtual approach and inclined towards poojas and worship. The importance of Gaytri japam and Nitya parayana have been prescribed as Brahmins are considered for promoting traditions,customs and values.whether in to day's society permeats a logic(girls having janau etc) is just to disrespect the orderliness of society,it is necessary to the person born in brahmin community to value these principles,advise them for adherence and maintain these values and promote to them.
