Guest guest
As Ashutoshji has pointed out dowry continues to be the norm in arranged marriages in Indian society. Social life spans cannot be measured by the normal standrards of human lives. The various societies and cultures continue to change as new cross cultural pulls and pushes act on it. When we talk of socio-astrology we have to look beyond human lifespans, I suppose. For example, the time cycles in which let us say, Jupiter and Saturn get together in various rashis in trines over a span of 200/250 years. The current phase of Ju/Sa conjunctions every twenty years in taurus, virgo and capricorn began slowly in 1941 and will continue for nearly 200 odd years. Is it a mere coincidence that Ju/Sa conjoined in Aries, Leo and Sag since nearly 1700 to 1941..an era for this world which saw lets say in India..the renessaince and reform of religious values in which we had Vivejknanda and others, we also observed an attempt to restore dignity to women in the society. This was also the period coinciding with the Industrial revolution, the change in feudal europe, the formation of the new world in North America. Also a period of tremendous enlightenment and the growth of the spirit of scientific inquiry as against the acceptance of dogma. Astrological cycles and history are intricately interelated. For individual interpretations, there is, of course, the caveat...interpret as per Desh, Kaal and Patra. More marriages in India break due to dowry and more marriages in west break due to interpersonal problems. It is indeed a fascinating thread and lets hear more observations on it. regards rishi , "crystal pages" <rrgb wrote: > > Looks like dahej has become shashwat. > Anyone interested in sociology/scriptural history can comment on how > long dowry pratha goes back in Indian society (I know other > societies also have the system and some have nearly eliminated it - - > would be an interesting thing to study later). > > One wonders if such societal norms that have lasted many many years > or longer have some link with astrology as it applies to societies > and cultures? Guest guest
Since this is not necessarily area which has been covered by classical astrology, and experimental/exploratory, there might be some merit in looking at transsaturnine planets or some of the longer progressions suggested, as by bhrigu researchers (saturn cycle going upto 360 years approximately, jupiter going upto 144 and the harmonics of the two together [kind of like progressed brahaspatya cycle]. Mind you this is exploration which will find more dissonants and resistance before it begins. this is where software and modern computing could help but they are all busy creating video games :-) RR , "rishi_2000in" <rishi_2000in wrote: > > As Ashutoshji has pointed out dowry continues to be the norm in > arranged marriages in Indian society.
