Guest guest
Dear readers, This is a live topic so the long chain in it wanted to wait for sometime before putting my bit I am sure there r exceptions to all things we see. hear in daily life so to dowry. from past 3 generations in our family there was is and future too no DOWRY. my father did perfom 4/5 sisters and 2 brothers wedding and same rule in his case my siblings 5/6 r married 3 girls and 2 sons NO DOWRY. so there r many I know like this THE OTHER SIDE I'VE SEEN MANY who can testify to the opposite women who r suffering genuinely r still taking it silently but the villian, vile women who encash on their husband's plight milch them to their last drop. the case of Dr Balakrishna Ambati the youngest docter at 17 from USA of Indian origin, a very well to do family, when he came to India was honoured by our nation and PM P V Narshima rao, but that period saw this family put to untold humilation by his brother's in-laws on dowry case, it is absard that anyone from INdia can pay an American citizen any amout their entire wealth will get overshadowed , people who r going for 1st time may bill their tickets on in-laws [some jerks sure] and their passports seiezed for months they languished in jails in KOLAR. i remember a case where a man was harressed by his wife with help from cops who used to write letters to him just before the dead line for minimm period of seperation was to expire land in, in the middle of the [ previous] night with cops help saying why u did not reply to my letters we can talk in the morning on it, it is late now the cops say over for 8 yrs it went like this several judges either retired or were transffered and in the meanwhile he was mentally so sick duing this 8 yrs that he hardly workd as a public sector employee got away with such indifference to work though stressed out. finally one judge sat on it delivered the seperation, he came back and told us the good news. he went home and immediately died with a massive heart attack his joy did not last even 3 hrs. there is another docter case where the women put all her in-laws in jail apart from dowry on prostution charges for 3 days ona friday night. there is one similar case posted by j0l_71 here in this group too. the divide and troubles r there both sides. curruption if ut rules so much is today becasue the wives demand too much and the husbands who willingly given in and sell their souls tosatisfy them is a case in point. today women govt employess r no different directly ask pay me as much as u paid the previous men in my seat they even come to ofices or their homes to collect the SALES TAX, coropration taxes etc. SOME HAVE OPINED ALL ARRANGED MARRIAGES R Downry demanding no all love marriages r downry free NO it is just human greed either from our jobs, or spouses we try to make money sadly. u msut see now people in the borth and deaths registrar make money to issue a death certificate to a gribeving family who need this paper just to make many things in order. My father had this experience even in 1947 FOR 2 YRS THE CLERKS did show him pillar2post but one day when he gave him rs 5 the paper right from the desk was tracable and given to him, my father was 20 when his father died and wished due to compassionate grounds at least he would be helped. no greed has no compassion. dowry is just a small part of it. Social life spans cannot be measured by the normal standrards of human lives. The various societies and cultures continue to change as new cross cultural pulls and pushes act on it. When we talk of socio-astrology we have to look beyond human lifespans, I suppose. For example, the time cycles in which let us say, Jupiter and Saturn get together in various rashis in trines over a span of 200/250 years. The current phase of Ju/Sa conjunctions every twenty years in taurus, virgo and capricorn began slowly in 1941 and will continue for nearly 200 odd years. Is it a mere coincidence that Ju/Sa conjoined in Aries, Leo and Sag since nearly 1700 to 1941..an era for this world which saw lets say in India..the renessaince and reform of religious values in which we had Viveknanda and others, we also observed an attempt to restore dignity to women in the society. This was also the period coinciding with the Industrial revolution, the change in feudal europe, the formation of the new world in North America. Also a period of tremendous enlightenment and the growth of the spirit of scientific inquiry as against the acceptance of dogma. Astrological cycles and history are intricately interelated. For individual interpretations, there is, of course, the caveat...interpret as per Desh, Kaal and Patra. More marriages in India break due to dowry and more marriages in west break due to interpersonal problems. It is indeed a fascinating thread and lets hear more observations on it. regards rishi , "crystal pages" <rrgb wrote: > > Looks like dahej has become shashwat. > Anyone interested in sociology/scriptural history can comment on how > long dowry pratha goes back in Indian society (I know other > societies also have the system and some have nearly eliminated it - - > would be an interesting thing to study later). > > One wonders if such societal norms that have lasted many many years > or longer have some link with astrology as it applies to societies > and cultures?
