Guest guest
Namaste list members, Before giving my queries, I'll introduce myself. I am french and I am translating BPHS in french language. If you want the URL is http://www.multimania.com/larrygolad. I have two queries. First, I didn't clearly understood in chapter 6 how is calculated Varnada dasa. Could one of you give an example? And second, I have read in several of your mails abour Paryaaya dasa. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to find JUPS where it is explained. Could someone kindly explain how it is calculated? Thanks in advance. _______________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
Guest guest
Namaste, I read your exchanges with Shiv Chadha and others on BPHS. While I agree with Chadha ji that the best translation of BPHS is yet to come, I still think that what you are doing is a great thing. One's teachings and writings are always limited by one's knowledge. If one wants to wait till perfect knowledge is available, one will wait forever. Go ahead with your noble work of spreading the astrology teachings of Sage Parasara in France. Sanjay once told me, "the more knowledge you give out to others, the more fresh knowledge you will receive!" I hope it comes true in your case! > Namaste list members,> > Before giving my queries, I'll introduce myself.> I am french and I am translating BPHS in french language.> If you want the URL is http://www.multimania.com/larrygolad.> > I have two queries.> > First, I didn't clearly understood in chapter 6 how is calculated Varnada > dasa.> Could one of you give an example?> > And second, I have read in several of your mails abour Paryaaya dasa.> Unfortunately, I didn't manage to find JUPS where it is explained.> Could someone kindly explain how it is calculated?> > Thanks in advance. I will skip Varnada dasa for now, as it is rather complicated and Varnada Lagna computation is controversial. I will address Paryaaya dasa, as I use it in medical diagnosis. There are 3 versions of Paryaya dasa - (1) Chara Paryaaya Dasa, (2) Sthira Paryaaya Dasa, and, (3) Ubhaya Paryaaya Dasa. Paryaaya dasa is particularly useful in D-6 (shashthamsa) in showing sicknesses. Paryaaya dasa of D-n is seeded from the nth house in D-n (like Mandooka dasa). For example, let us say D-6 has Ar lagna. Then Vi (6th from Ar) becomes the seed for D-6 Paryaaya dasa. If the seed is a chara (movable) rasi, use "Ubhaya Paryaaya Dasa". If the seed is a sthira (fixed) rasi, use "Sthira Paryaaya Dasa". If the seed is a dwiswabhava (dual) rasi, use "Chara Paryaaya Dasa". [Read carefully and don't jump to conclusions. Note the reversal of chara and ubhaya.] In the above example of Ar lagna, 6th house Vi is a dual sign (dwiswabhava rasi) and so Chara Paryaaya dasa should be used. If lagna is Ta, 6th house Li is a movable sign (chara rasi) and Ubhaya Paryaya dasa should be used. If lagna is Ge, 6th house Sc is a fixed sign (sthira rasi) and so Sthira Paryaaya dasa should be used. In Chara Paryaaya dasa, start dasas from the strongest of the three trines from the seed. Starting from that sign, go as 1st, 5th, 9th; 2nd, 6th, 10th; 3rd, 7th, 11th; 4th, 8th, 12th (trinal progression). Counting is forward or reverse based on whether the starting sign is odd-footed or even-footed (respectively). Odd-footed signs are Ar, Ta, Ge, Li, Sc and Sg. Others are even-footed. In Sthira Paryaaya dasa, start dasas from the stronger of seed and 7th from it. Starting from that sign, go as 1st, 7th; 2nd, 8th; 3rd, 9th; 4th, 10th; 5th, 11th; 6th, 12th (samasaptaka progression). Counting is forward or reverse based on whether the starting sign is odd-footed or even-footed (respectively). In Ubhaya Paryaaya dasa, start dasas from the strongest of the four quadrants from the seed. Starting from that sign, go as 1st, 4th, 7th, 10th; 2nd, 5th, 8th, 11th; 3rd, 6th, 9th, 12th (quadrant progression). Counting is forward or reverse based on whether the starting sign is odd-footed or even-footed (respectively). I will examples of all the three for your convenience. The calculations are by my software and you can check them to verify your understanding: Example 2: +--------------+| |Mar |Rah Ket | || | | | || | | | || | | | || | | | ||-----------+-----------------------+-----------||Sat | |Sun Jup || | |Glk || | | || | | || | Shashthamsa | ||-----------| |-----------||Ven | D-6 |HL AL || | | || | | || | | || | | ||-----------+-----------------------+-----------||Moo Mer |Asc Mnd |GL | || | | | || | | | || | | | || | | | |+--------------+ Shashthamsa D-6+--------------+| \ Mer / \ / || \ Moo / \ GL / || \ / \ / || \ / Mnd \ / || \ / \ / ||Ven x Asc x || / \ / \ || / \ / \ || / \ / \ || / \ 8 / AL \ || / \ / \ || Sat x HL || \ / \ / || \ / \ / || \ / \ / || \ / Ket \ / || \ / \ / Glk || x Rah x Jup Sun || / \ / \ || / \ / \ || / \ / \ || / Mar \ / \ || / \ / \ |+--------------+ +--------------+| \ | | / || \ Ket | Mar | / || \ | | / || \ Rah | | / Sat || \ | | / || \ | | / || \ | | / ||---------------+---------------+---------------|| | | || Sun Jup | | Ven || Glk | Shashthamsa | || | | || | D-6 | || | | || | | ||---------------+---------------+---------------|| / | | \ || AL / | GL | \ Mer || / | | \ || HL / | | Asc \ Moo || / | | \ || / | | Mnd \ || / | | \ |+---------------+---------------+---------------+ Ubhaya Paryaya dasa of D-6 chart (illnesses, litigations && worries): Maha Dasas: Cn: 2001-09-04 (22:30:53) - Now the question is - how to use it? I only use it in medical diagnosis. Shashthamsa (D-6) shows illnesses. The 6th house in it shows obstructions to one's vitality/health. Shashthamsa Paryaaya dasa shows the progression of this obstruction with time. So Paryaaya dasa sign shows what kind of illnesses one may get. Argalas (interventions - see my book for definition) on Paryaaya dasa sign show vital influences on one's sicknesses. They show the root cause of the problem and are quite helpful in diagnosis. Especially, argalas from dusthana lords or from badly afflicted planets give hints on the illness. For example, a lady I know suffered from epilepsy in an antardasa that had a strong argala from 8th lord Mars who was afflicted by nodes in Cp (a tamasik vaata rasi). Mars shows majja dhatu (nerve tissue) and majjagata vaata and tamas was the root cause of epilepsy in that antardasa. Use of herbs that reduce vaata (and also tamas) in the nerve tissue cured her. As another example, Richard Houck's D-6 had 6th and 8th lords Saturn and Mars (two tamasik planets) in 6th house Scorpio and this caused a highly tamasik condition like cancer in rectum (showed by Scorpio). Its argala on Virgo made the cancer spread to liver in Virgo's Paryaaya dasa. An ayurveda client of mine is of pitta constitution and his rasi chart has Saturn and Rahu in 5th house (Pisces), showing vaata disturbance in digestion. The two planets aspect Sun in Vi, again showing disturbed digestion due to vaata. In D-6 also, Sun is afflicted by nodes in Cp (a vaata rasi) and this shows vaata disturbance in digestion. He started D-6 Paryaaya dasa of Vi with strong argala from Cp in October 2000 and has since been having severe digestion problems and vaata disturbances and finally resulting in clinical depression. After using strong doctor-prescribed anti-depression drugs, he came to me and herbs balancing vaata and improving digestion are helping him. He is still undergoing treatment, but the herbs are helping him. I myself am of pitta-vaata constitution. But Moon and Rahu in 6th and 6th lord Saturn in 8th show vaata type troubles. Rahu in 6th in rasi chart shows too much ama (toxins) in body. Badhakesha Jupiter in the 2nd house of food shows troubles related to food like overeating. His aspect on Rahu shows ama due to overeating. So Rahu shows ama due to overeating in my chart. He is in Cn with Saturn and Ketu in my D-6 and they all have a strong argala on Ge. During Ge dasa, I had breathing problems (Ge = throat and lungs). Traditional treatments of removing kapha from lungs only aggravated my inherent pitta and did not help. I tried a lot of things. Finally, I realized that ama due to overeating (Rahu) and weak lung muscles (Saturn afflicted by nodes in D-6 and debilitated in rasi) were the reason for my breathing problems in Gemini dasa (due to their argala on Ge in my D-6). Then I took the right medicines and regulated eating habits and the result was there to see. I am a rank novice in ayurveda, but my limited research into the links between ayurveda and Jyotish convinced me of two things: (1) Shashthamsa (D-6) is wonderful. (2) Argalas on dasa/antardasa sign as per Shashthamsa Paryaaya dasa give excellent clues on the root cause of the problem. The above two tools are very useful in medical diagnosis using astrology. I hope Astro-Ayurveda scholars perfect these tools and benefit from them. May Jupiter's light shine on us,Narasimha ---------------------Narasimha P.V.R.
