Dear Kurkowiak Lucas,

You wrote:-

>And for verse 16 of chapter 8, you're right that this verse seems a bit

>"weird" to understand.

In answer to:- Coming to verse 16 of chapter 8 (Sharma) and 7 of Santhanam

7, word 'Gruhavat' for Trinshansh is not fully explained. Writing merely 'In

Trimshansh the effect should be understood like that in the houses' is not

enough.

Yes! We can take it up later when more members become involved with interest

and contribution. Here 'correct' way of calculation of D30 chart is also

involved. D30 is again referred to in verse 29 of chapter 32(Sharma), and

Ch. 30 (Santhanam). Both the translators have not written a word on use of

D30.

Taking up another verse from BPHS chapter 17, verse 7 (Santhanam), chapter

18 (Sharma), Santhanam places 9th lord in the ascendant while Sharma in the

5th. Correct meaning of 'moortivartti' will be 'going into the ascendant'

i.e. the 9th lord is so close to the ascendant that it later, sometime after

birth moves into the ascendant. Here it is not a question of correcting just

one verse, but an important principle is being given. Dynamic nature of the

planets and their post birth time movement is focussed onto. The word is as

dyanamic as the words 'Aarohi' (ascending to a point) or 'Avarohi'

(descending from a point). In this matter, I again refer you to my article

on Static v/s dynamic nature of chart on www.vedanet.com .

Likewise, discussion may continue for more verses but others should also get

involved.

Best wishes,

Shiv Chadha

Namaste!

I wonder why someone has not set up a forum online for the correct

translation of BPHS or at least a discussion of the various "conflicts" in the

translations and then solicited interest in both Jyotishi and Sanskrit

Scholars. I think the "net" is a perfect place for this type of exchange. By the

way are there any "good" manuscripts left anywhere in the world?

Om Sri Ganapati Ki Jai!

great work.
