Guest guest
The Lunar calander, used for Relegious rites, and festivals, is based on the Moons motion around the earth. This Lunar year is shorter than the Solar year of 365.25.. days. To match the solar calenser and the Lunar calender, usually every 3 years on month is added to the Lunar Calender. The particular month which is added is fixed by the Motion of the Sun in the Lunar month. If the Sun does not change its Rasi(Sign) in a particular Lunar Month, that particular month is doubled, and is named the Adhika Masa. The next month is called the NIJA(true) Masa of the same name. A particular Lunar Month becomes a ADHIKA usually once in 19 years. One may note that the Birth day according to the English Calender, and the birth day according to the Lunar Masa and tithi also coincide one in 19 years. Every Lunar Month has a presiding diety;(The various names of Vishnu): For Adhika Masa whichever Lunar Month it may be, the presiding Diety is PURUSHOTTAMA. The rules of calculating the Luar Months and Adhika are in SURYA SIDDHANTA, and DRIK ganita Terrorist Attacks on U.S. - How can you help?
