This is formed when there is association of Venus (Passion), Saturn (Hardwork) and Ketu (Spirituality). All the three planets can be placed together or they might simultaneously aspect any trine from the Lagna. If Saturn is there with Ketu withought venus influencing them, the Native can be a fraud in the garb of a tapaswi. This can be seen from the Rasi or the Navamsa chart The effect of the yoga is that the person concerned will be highly involved in some research work, which can be spiritual or otherwise. Anything which require hardword, severe austerity and high degree of involvement... Both Rasi and Graha Dristi should be applicable. Also if all 3 are placed in trines(dharma trikona) in Navamsa then the same is seen. The first thing which I see is that Ketu is afflicting the Paka Lagna and the Paka Lagna Karaka Jupiter, that also in 5th house (read Shiv Pujan's article in SJVC site). This might give some psychological problem. Try meditating on the Mantra " SOHAM" and concentrate between your eye-brows. Regarding the yoga, we see that though Venus is aspected by Saturn (I am more inclined to take Rasi Drishti), Saturn is also aspecting the 10th from it where Ketu is placed through Graha drishti. Though this yoga is present. I don't think this is strong enough. Try to locate this yoga in Navamsa which is more indicative of the tendencies than their manifestations which is shown by the Rasi chart. Here Rasi Drishti is more important than the Graha drishti which might show desire to be a tapaswi rather than becoming a tapaswi (for the desire to be fulfilled the Moon (determination, maya) should be very strong). It only means a dedicated and austere pursuer of something. For example, an atheistic scientist who spends 18 hours a day in lab trying to decode a genetic code may be tapaswi. Saturn gives hard work and tenacity. Venus gives passion, discipline and austerity. Ketu gives the desire to transcend and the desire to understand the unknown. If AK aspects or joins planets causing Tapaswi yoga, then the yoga will result in progress of the soul. If these planets are well-disposed in D-60 also, it makes the yoga powerful. Tapasya cannot come in one life just out of thin air - it has to be the result of strong desires from past life. My chart is an example. I have lagna in Virgo, Ketu in Leo, Jupiter in Libra, Sun in Pisces, Moon & Rahu in Aquarius and other four planets in Aries. Venus and Saturn are together in the 8th house (of occult and pursuit of unknown), aspected by Ketu from 12th. This gives a strong Tapaswi yoga. AK is Moon and he aspects Aries. This gives permanency to the yoga once activated. When is the yoga activated? Use Lagnamsaka dasa (Narayana dasa of rasi chart seeded from lagnamsaka instead of lagna), to see how one's dharmic self (navamsa lagna) manifests physically (rasi chart). See Sanjay's "Narayana dasa" for examples. I gave my Lagnamsaka dasa calculations in a previous post. You may see Leo dasa running from 1993 to 1998. Leo and Aries take part in Tapaswi yoga and their dasas can activate the yoga. During 1993-1998, I restarted meditation and got seriously into astrology. I read many books, experimented with a lot of techniques, pondered deeply over a lot of things and dedicated all my free time to astrology research. There were many days when I slept at 3 am and got up at 6 am. I passionately and ardently pursued astrology. The Tapaswi yoga was indeed activated in this dasa. In addition to the Tapaswi yoga, there are many raja yogas involving Ar and Li. These yogas will ensure that the fruits of my astrological pursuits will be useful to the world. These yogas will be activated in Libra dasa (2003-2009). The fruits of my tapasya started in 1993- 1998 will start to be visible and be useful to the world from 2003- 2009. This is not your case. I know many would feel sad of missing such a good yoga in their horoscope. But not every Tapaswi needs to have it. Divinity is found when Guru aspects Lagna or he aspects lagna lord. Sani also plays a major role and when he is aspected by divine Guru, the person can achieve success in meditation. Kethu's strength is good as it will give austerity. Guru and Kethu combination also is good and if the intentions are sincere, every person can reach perfection. Guest guest Posted October 5, 2001 Report Share Posted October 5, 2001 Hi Just to reply your question the following is my perception: Since the lagna is Ta, I do have a venusian influence such as liking for arts, and other pleasures. also note it is closely conjunct with Ra and aspecting the Lagna.The presence of Sa however makes me dogged and a go getter.Moreover the 9th apsect of Ju from 5th (Vi) has given me some maturity, sober and patience and yearnig for learning. It is Ra some times corrupt the mind and thinking process but soon to be negated by Ke in Lagna. My AL is aquarius with no planets.Is in house of Sa,Ra. That makes people to think me as a techie.It however has given a lot of respect too. May be as sarjit pointed the tapaswi yoga will manifest only when rasi aspects are involved.
