Guest guest
Hi! My friend was born at 10:43 am Eastern Standard Time on 10th August 1951 in Durham, NC, USA. The latitude and longitude of Durham are 36-00 N and 78-54 W respectively. Could someone please tell me how much 10:43 am EST is in GMT? For now, I've presumed 15:43 pm, but I don't really know. It'd also be welcome if someone could take the trouble of mailing me a jhd file. Regards, Ramapriya hublI
Guest guest
I use www.astro.com (free access) to get latitude and longitude and the hour East or West of GMT. Then with the data obtained from astro.com, I use it on the free software "Jagannatha Hora Lite" program provided by Narasimh Rao, SJVC. What type of Vedic software are you using? Guest guest
Simply do this 78Min-54Sec * 4 Min =313 Minutes and convert this 313 into hours and seconds= 5 hrs and 13 minutes. deducing this from time of EPOCH you will reach GMT. any more questions are welcome . Guest guest
Thanx buddy. I did think of this also but then the Standard Times aren't always accurate to the longitude, you know. For example, the IST will only be correct for births on 82-13 E longitude. Get the point? Guest guest
Hello, I agree with Ramapriya. Add the other confusion like time adjustment done in US for summer and winter! B.V.Raman's ephemeris gives methods to calculate correct sunrise etc. He gives the correction based on the actual lat/long. Yes, for entire India we have one standard time irrespective of the size of the country. Anyway, all the standard packages like JHORA etc. take care of this I believe. warm regards, Balaji S. --- Ramapriya D <ramapriya_d wrote: > Thanx buddy.
