Can anyone explain clearly the dasa system that Varahamihira

presents in Ch 8 of Brihat Jataka - the first one, rather than the

Nisargika one?

 

At least one good example would be appreciated. Several would

be even better! In particular, how is the length of the dasa

calculated?

This is called Moola Dasa. Please refer to Saravali for more details on it,

and if I recall correctly, there was an article on it by Sanjayji either in

Jyotish News or on sjvc.org or on His website.
